Missouri's governor ordered the National Guard onto the streets of Ferguson early Monday after another night of violence following the shooting by police of an unarmed black teen. "Tonight, a day of hope, prayers, and peaceful protests was marred by the violent criminal acts of an organized and growing number of individuals, many from outside the community and state, whose actions are putting the residents and businesses of Ferguson at risk," Gov. Jay Nixon said in a statement. "Given these deliberate, coordinated and intensifying violent attacks on lives and property in Ferguson, I am directing the highly capable men and women of the Missouri National Guard to assist Colonel Ron Replogle and the Unified Command in restoring peace and order to this community.

No, not really.... They will be charged with quelling riots and protecting lives and property. They will be keeping law and order in an emergency....Not setting up a police force.
The police and population need them at this point and I think it’s the right call. This has gone far enough.

Not a chance they’ll be issued live ammo. I hope none of them gets popped.

It would have been the right call last week too.

will they bring in tanks or APC’s?
Will we see a hummer destroyed by molotov cocktail?

I was one of only 3 Regular Army soldiers going through Basic Combat Training with hundreds of National Guardsmen from Indiana and Kentucky. Many weekends they were learning riot control and such while the three of us were scrubbing pots and pans for them on KP because RA troops don’t get that type of training in BCT. At least not back then.

The police and population need them at this point and I think its the right call. This has gone far enough.Do you think they are going to have ammo to defend themselves when they get shot at, 'cause I think that is highly likely.

will they bring in tanks or APCs?That's probably a good idea. Otherwise the guard will be sitting ducks.

Hey, you just said APC, now it's hummers? ;-)

If you lived there or had a business there you would be happy with all the militarization you could get.

Talking about revolution is great for Progressives in their Ivy League faculty lounge or salons.
But it's a totally different issue when the tear gas is blowing, the shots are fired and blood is flowing.
