IRBIL, Iraq — An Iraqi security official says Kurdish forces have taken over parts of the country’s largest dam, which was captured by the Islamic State extremist group earlier this month.

Gen. Tawfik Desty told The Associated Press that peshmerga forces backed by Iraqi and U.S. warplanes started the operation to retake Mosul Dam early Sunday.

If there is an ethnic group that deserves their country, it is the Kurds.

They are the only adults among these sorry lot in Iraq.

First, I would hope that the escape routes for ISIS are secured. Second, I would hope that no prisoners are taken. These people should never make it out of Iraq alive. They’ve perpetrated an illegal war and acts of genocide. They should be summarily executed for all the crimes they’ve committed. No state resources should be spent for trials and incarceration.

Jeez, when I read this I had to think of the underground
fighting portrayed in the film “Stalingrad”.

Brave Kurds.
