Well here’s the thing, speaking as a former Prosecutor. Do let me say first that of course I believe this is politically motivated. But IF they can prove Perry made the threat and then vetoed the Bill for that reason, it is a crime per the Statute.

Now there are other issues like is the Statute even constitutional or is it over broad? Does the State constitutional right to veto win the day?

All of these are issue that will play out. Personally, I think the constitutional right to veto will win the day. But do the facts suggest he violated the Statutes? Yes.

I got to hear Tom Delay tell the full story of his witch hunt. They’d been after him for years and used the Ethics Commission to do it. It was the DemoRats that wanted I’m too. Sounds familiar...

Perry should hammer them. Throw the prosecutor and judge in jail. The use of the law in this manner must be stopped by any means necessary. It is an abomination.

MHO, the DeLay thing was tough for those who aren’t totally engaged in the political weeds to understand.

This one is very easy to understand for anyone who is willing to devote a couple of minutes to it.

He tried to rid the office of public integrity of one who possesses none.

I'm not going to ever, ever, ever vote for Perry.

Rick Perry took money from a drug company (Merck) and has several other ties to the company, including his friend and former chief of staff Mike Toomey leaving Perry to work for Merck.

Perry made an executive order that every girl in the state had to get an Merck brand HPV vaccine (Gardasil) because he said so and new better than the parents of Texas. I could never vote for that kind of sleaze.

Perry has admitted that he made a huge mistake doing this, because what else is he going to say; but he's also proved that he can be bought and paid for and that children are cannon fodder to him.

So... yes, this thing in Austin is sleazy, but Rick Perry using young girls as political payback is pretty much the apex of sleazy. What goes around comes around.
