The Republican governor is accused of abusing his official powers by publicly promising to veto $7.5 million for the state public integrity unit at the Travis County District Attorney's office. He was indicted by an Austin grand jury Friday.

I dislike Perry as well and, if this scuttles his White House hopes, I’ll take it as a silver lining, but this is just beyond the pale.
I am not familiar with Texas constitution, but any possible options to place the Travis County’s DA office under the direct control of the state government or otherwise forcibly remove the current DA, should be explored.
Ironically, this *itch is committing the very crime she’s charging Perry with.
Come on now.
Dems are targeting our best candidates, first Cristie and now Perry...
whose next?? Jeb??
I have property in Idaho and I'll be there!
Not much says how politically ignorant Kalifornians can be more than the reelection of Jerry Brown. WTF?
My brother loves him. But then, my brother wants Michelle Obama to be the next POTUS. Yes, liberals are that stupid.
"Our best candidates"?
Perry isn’t perfect, but Christie isn’t worthy to shine Rick’s shoes.
LOL, man Christie is fat.
Additionally, do you want a president who has joined forces with Mitch McConnell in his war waged against the TEA Party? I know I don't.
These two "faux pas" have occurred in recent months. They cannot be attributed to his taking pain medication as was the excuse for his horrendous performance in the 2012 debates. The man is just a dumbass.
He’d probably look slim next to the wookie.
I was discussing this today with a friend of mine who is a TX prosecutor.
We are in agreement that this Public Integrity Unit needs to be under the authority if the TX Attorney General.
That way there is accountability at the statewide level.
I’m not sure yet, but I think the legislature can reorganize this Unit so these political prosecutions can be avoided in the future.
I like Perry and to commit heresy I like John Kasich too.
But if they run for POTUS that may change fast,
To Kasich I say, meh. He never evoked a strong opinion in me.
I agree. Kasich is uninspiring and like La Raza Rick, a career politician. We need dynamic leaders at this time, and ones who can point to accomplishments.
Now you are changing definitions.
I never posted once that we should look at Perry or Kasich as national leaders, in fact I said that I don't do that,
I just said that I like them as governors.
Out here on the planet earth in states not just like Maryland but in VA and NC its a tough fight and electing Dems to run the purple states like we have in Maryland and CA will just solidify Dems as a permanent ruling authority,
Just try living in Dem controlled state like I do. Every day is another tax and regulation.,
And the Stevens shame . Can’t beat them scam them.
It’s my personal opinion on them. Obviously, you’d take either over the execrable O’Malley, who is one of the worst Governors in the country (and certainly was just as execrable as Mayor of Bawlamer). If I recall, the only accomplishment that jackass could point to as Mayor was that he got a skyscraper built. One of the highest-crime ghettoes in the nation and he crows about a tower downtown.
When I talk about or grade Governors (think of them as mini-Presidents), I look at those who aggressively fight back (I mean substantively, not just with posturing, a big reason I’ve never cared for Perry - and his trying to talk tough on illegals is ludicrous given his long record on pandering to the La Raza crowd) against the federal overreach and daily encroachment in states and in our lives.
Too many Republican Governors just “manage” the decay/decline instead of taking a flame-thrower to the cancer. As a result, there’s not very many Governors I’m wild about. Probably the two I have the highest opinions of are Paul LePage in Maine (who literally does not give a $hit about the moonbat left/media and charges onward) and Scott Walker in Wisconsin (who took on the rabid unions and won).

My point is that electing Dems as governors doesn't work.
Many of these GOP governors like the two I mentioned do their best while fighting to not allow a Dem to take their places.
About Scott Walker, remember my exranormal video tribute to him,
A Liberal Teacher explains Union Busting (Scott Walker Tribute)
But he will be trashed here while Dems do their best to take him out, just wait.
Yes, I created and posted that video myself,
A county DA that thinks they are the state AG, that is totally ridiculous
those are our best candidates??
Then we really are doomed
