MOSCOW—Ukrainian artillery destroyed a large part of a column of armored vehicles that had been seen entering Ukraine from Russia, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said Friday. The reported episode was near where Russian trucks loaded with what Moscow says are relief supplies destined for eastern Ukraine had stopped for the night, adding to fears that the convoy was a prelude to a Russian military intervention. Russia has denied sending men and weapons into eastern Ukraine.

The “proof” is the foreign journalists who observed the armored column crossing the border. The “lack of proof” involves whether some were destroyed.

I really think the convoy is just a face saving PR move (50% odds), an evacuation for trapped units (25% odds), or an attempt to have a “Ukrainian attack” on the convoy to give them an excuse (15% odds). I doubt they’re smuggling anything in so obviously when they can do it covertly

They LET the western Journos see this, and they are seeing a bunch of other stuff in the area, including an S300 and 400 battery that has been set up along the border.
Putin is sending a very clear message, to Kiev and to the EU/ Obama.

NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said on Friday a “Russian incursion” into Ukraine had occurred overnight, but stopped short of characterizing it as an invasion.
“Last night we saw a Russian incursion, a crossing of the Ukrainian border,” he told reporters after meeting the Danish defense minister.
“It just confirms the fact that we see a continuous flow of weapons and fighters from Russia into eastern Ukraine and it is a clear demonstration of continued Russian involvement in the destabilisation of eastern Ukraine,” the Danish NATO chief said.
“More going on than meets the eye.”
And you, sitting in your basement monitoring the twitter feeds, have somehow been able to peer behind the curtain, right?
Likely its task was to distract attention (of Ukrainians and NATO recon) from other convoys with reinforcements and supply for the “rebels”, which at the same time crossed the border in other areas.
