Poland put on its biggest military parade in years Friday to mark its annual armed forces holiday, with the president saying the violence in Ukraine shows that conflict is still a "brutal reality" in Eastern Europe and Poland must be able to defend itself.

Fighter jets and military helicopters flew over Warsaw as tanks rolled through the capital. More than 1,000 Polish soldiers marched, joined by dozens of U.S. and Canadian troops who are in Poland for NATO exercises.

The parade came on the Aug. 15 holiday that honors a stunning Polish victory against Russian Bolsheviks in 1920.

Poland military is no match for Russian military.
It's amazing, that is exactly (!!!!!) the same thing that the whole world had said 94 years ago.
It was a very similar situation, Bolshevik's with huge army, tons of money, restored army, support from Bolsheviks in Western Europe (Lenin: useful idiots), Ukrainian separatists (Budionny) and we have managed to kick their a$$es back behind Bolshevik's border and save Europe/World from Bolshevik's desease.
This was one of the most important wars in world's history.
I do not believe that Russians will attack our country (neither our Baltic neighbours) nevertheless, we are ready, they can't just roll in with their tanks like they did in Georgie few years ago.
The resistance here would be crushing for Russian army, and Putin knows it.

President Komorowski gave a speech that was all about Russia and what they’re doing in the Ukraine.

Yes, the barrels are in upper-left position, so just look this way from that side.

Russia would lose a lot of soldiers if they dared to try to take Poland again.

And unlike in 1939, this time Poland would probably have air superiority due to NATO.

Thats right, they are severely short of equipment.
And the military establishment is small. I don’t know to what degree they are able to mobilize even with obsolete equipment.
They have just two brigades with Leopard 2 series and perhaps 50-70 more or less modern fighters.
Even Ukraine is far more formidable, on paper.
Their local allies (Lithuiania, Latvia, Estonia) are much worse equipped.

Interesting that even the Leopard crews are using the old Soviet style tank helmet.
I guess they like it better than the German ones.

Poland went centuries being top dog too. The Hussars of course are famous and rightly so. Nobody will forget the siege of Vienna and King Sobieski (spelling) rolling in and beating back the moslem hordes.

Poland has been on the side of freedom for a very long time, and I wish them well.

Majority of Nato countries are cowards or would not contribute. The handful of one that likely would be Canada, France, UK, and perhaps maybe Germany. I left the US out because all bets are off with the monkey in the whitehouse.

I can identify everything pictured here, but the one that threw me for a bit were the modified MT-LB’s.
Turns out they are actually rapid minelaying vehicles, those rocket launcher tubes are for discharging a pattern of mines.
Clever idea.

Obama would lead from behind and do what the UK told him to do just like when NATO bombed Libya. In case of a real war, we would quickly discover that Obama is not really running this nation. These kinds of decision are above his pay grade.
