Nearly a week after a police officer shot and killed Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., police on Friday identified the officer as Darren Wilson.
Wilson is a six-year veteran of the Ferguson police with no disciplinary record, Ferguson police chief Thomas Jackson said at a news conference on Friday morning.
Jackson provided few other details about Wilson at the news conference and did not take any questions. He said that Wilson had been responding to a call shortly before noon on Saturday when there was a 911 call regarding a “strong-arm robbery” at a convenience store.
A description of a possible suspect was given over the radio, saying this person was walking toward the QuickTrip convenience store in Ferguson. An incident report handed out by police on Friday labeled Brown as a suspect in the convenience store robbery, which involved the theft of some Swisher Sweets cigars.
Wilson left the call he had been responding to and encountered Brown on Canfield Drive at 12:01 p.m., Jackson said.

Uh oh. This is now on the blacksphere website......We are removing this story, since we are told that this is NOT the same Darren Wilson. Efforts are being made to find the correct Darren Wilson.
That said, I still believe this cop is black.

If he is, we’re talking about the Ferguson PD pulling off the PR coup of the decade. Withold identification of the officer, let the Liberals build their conjectural racism narrative to the point where it reaches critical mass, then cut the legs out from underneath it in an instance.
But I don’t think the cop is black. Too many eyewitnesses sympathetic to the dead guy have spoken out; the cop would have been identified as such by now if he was.
That is apparently as different Darren Wilson. His bio does not match that of the Ferguson PD officer involved in the shooting of the convenience store robbing “teddy bear”.
That’s the website of Kevin Jackson, a black conservative. Note that the original story was retracted, but Jackson says he still believes the officer is black. It won’t be long before someone digs up a pic of the guy.
