Here’s another: the annoying two-sentence iambic pentameter on most reality TV shows. First sentence up, second sentence down. Next cue card. I can’t watch more than two minutes of that.
I used to be a radio producer and any kind of voice affectation is going to turn listeners off. I always told people in the studio, just be yourself and speak in your normal voice. No fake accents or trendy affectations. Always think before you talk, and speak confidently and from the diaphragm, especially when going to job interviews.
Another one that’s starting to grow: ending each sentence in a (whisper...)
I’m seeing more of that on TV especially when they’re interviewing some tool who wants to imply they know more than they can (say...)
In person or at home it sounds very (fruity...)
Ditto. TV and commercial production goes through phases that are extremely annoying and overused. The shaky camera "trick" makes me sick. Try watching a "Crimes of the Century" episode as produced by CNN. You'll be lucky to get through 30 seconds. Entertaining ourselves to death.
