Washington (AFP) - Israel secured supplies of ammunition from the Pentagon last month without the approval of the White House or the State Department, the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.
Since officials there were caught off guard as they tried to restrain Israel's campaign in Gaza, the administration of President Barack Obama has tightened controls on arms shipments to Israel, the newspaper said, quoting US and Israeli officials.
But the case illustrated that the White House and the State Department have little influence over the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the paper said, quoting officials from both countries.

On Wednesday, the paper said, Obama and Netanyahu had a particularly tense phone call.

They probably did not need specific approval because the shipment was probably part of a previously approved ongoing arrangement, or an approved purchase already in progress.
Another BS revelation. Of course Obama knew...and I’m sure it’s “written” someplace. We sell arms to many countries...period.
Looks like Israel will develop their own versions of the Hellfire..plus some tank rounds and start selling them in competition to the US.

I may be jumping to a conclusion, but this sure smells like an act of war against Israel to me.
If it is, I will side with Israel.
I have been on this rock for over 65 years and I have NEVER been so disgusted with my once great country. There will soon be a time when the usa will need help from Israel.... Israel should turn us down - we are no longer fit to be their friend.

Interesting. Congress passes a bill providing Israel military aid. And requires Israel to spend about half of it in the US. The bill is signed by Obama, same one whining now, and becomes law. Israel orders materials through the DOD, which seems logical. This has been going on for decades. And suddenly it's an issue that the White House didn't approve an export license. I guess.
