GOVERNOR PERRY WILL PERSONALLY BRIEF NATIONAL GUARD TROOPS ABOUT TO BE DEPLOYED
Breitbart ^ | August 13, 2014 | By Bob Price

HOUSTON, Texas — Members of the Texas National Guard currently in training at Camp Swift, near Austin, have been told to stand by for a personal briefing from Texas Governor Rick Perry. Perry is expected to arrive at Camp Swift this morning to brief the troops on his expectations of their deployment.

It is still not clear as to exactly where this first batch of troops will be deployed, according to one of the soldiers currently at Camp Swift. The soldier has been at the camp receiving training this week and expects to be deployed somewhere along the border this weekend.

Approximately 300 soldiers are in this particular training group. He also revealed the soldiers will be traveling and patrolling in military vehicles.

The first group of soldiers who were trained last week have been ordered to remain at Camp Swift to train the following waves of soldiers. They will remain at Swift for two months.

The soldiers are also being trained in the use of advanced surveillance systems such as the Ratheon LRAS (Long Range Advanced Scout) systems. These systems can be used to detect illegal crossings of the border, but also to search for people being smuggled through ranch lands to avoid border patrol checkpoints like the one in Falfurrias.

Public Information Officers from both the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Texas National Guard have been extremely tight lipped about releasing any information regarding the deployment.

Shouldn’t you be off somewhere promoting stolen videos?

By your definition, 90% of all content on Breitbart, TheBlaze, DailyCaller, Newsbusters and CNSNews is "stolen" video promotion.

I think he is definitely making a show, of what America could be with a real leader. Perhaps if he runs and wins he will send 100,000 armed Americans, the vets could probably use jobs. They could build a 20 foot concrete wall that goes underground 10.

You can’t say it isn’t an invasion. It is an invasion with impoverished children as the spearheads, once here, they will LEGALLY be able to bring their gang member families, pedophile uncles, and worthless friends and distant cousins.

It is the most sinister of possible invasions. With an army, we would be able to fight back. These illegal immigrants are being spread throughout the country, enough democrat voters for the rest of time, in every county, every district. To tip the scales in favor of the democrats, while leeching off of you, and everyone else for their needs. Being treated better than a military veteran that fought for each and everyone of us, some even DYING.

You need to seriously think about your statements, and really figure out what matters to you. Because if they are allowed to stay, you lose, I lose, and every LEGAL American citizen loses, at the expense of layabouts, gang members, and criminals. In fact they are all criminals, crossing that border is a crime. Your blood should be boiling.

If they are unarmed, then you are right, it is a big waste of taxpayer money.

Doesn't matter if they are armed or not.

They have been told by the Governor to "Observe and Report" only.

And Perry's Aides admit that he has the Authority to Apprehend.

It's a PR Tactic by Perry.

"You are at the tip of the spear..."

Being armed with clipboards and sharpies is not the way I'd like to be there.

You are exactly right; if it wasn’t a PR stunt the mission wouldn’t be an observation mission, or even an arrest/apprehend mission, but an actual military mission [to include the use lethal force] to secure the border from breaches.

IOW, if this wasn’t a PR stunt then we’d be seeing real “controversy” portrayed in the media, to include accusations of killing children. (To which I say if their lives were valuable to their parents, or their country, they wouldn’t be used as human shields in an invasion attempt.)

They have already been deployed to improve LaRaza Ricks tough on illegal immigration act. Proof is all the

And I feel confident TX will fight for their border and make a difference.

If he was serious he would have sent the Texas Rangers. This kabuki dance is political, nothing more. He could have encouraged the elected sheriffs to form posses and promised to back them up, but he didn't.

What part of “armed” are you not understanding?

What part of no bullets do you not understand?

this is Texas and every man will have a gun. Count on it.

I keep hearing that but I keep seeing Texans arrested for open carry even of rifles used for hunting. Oregon is so blue it feels cold, but open carry is the law, as is, must issue concealed carry permits. My guess is Oregon is probably better armed, per capita, than Texas.

I am just an old Okie residing in the country hills of Oregon with my Grand Babies.

Nothing; in fact, I think it'd be a measure of proving non-sovereignty if the State were denied the ability to do so should it will it.

If Obama can selectively enforce federal law, do you think that Texas would not reply with the same in selectively enforcing its own “regulations?”

The game is afoot, and thank goodness for it.

Means little to nothing WRT the actuality of regs/orders that are put out — when I was in the NMNG there was a set of orders that came out from Santa Fe barring personal weapons at drill even though such an order is illegitimate by the NM Constitution which states:

Art II, Sec. 6. [Right to bear arms.]
No law shall abridge the right of the citizen to keep and bear arms for security and defense, for lawful hunting and recreational use and for other lawful purposes, but nothing herein shall be held to permit the carrying of concealed weapons. No municipality or county shall regulate, in any way, an incident of the right to keep and bear arms.
Sure you could challenge it, and I almost did [I honestly should have], but there's a lot of BS you have to put up with.

Should that have even been an issue? No.
Should the [respective] Constitution be upheld by those who swore to do so? Unquestionably.

You cannot assert the primacy of constitutional law and then ignore it at-will.
That sort of thinking/action would deprive us of our greatest chances of getting governmental organizations in check.

The game is afoot, and thank goodness for it.

No, it's really not — this is a PR stunt designed to make Perry look like he's acting decisively and being presidential.
The game really being afoot would mean cornering your opponents into either helping you or harming themselves, like this.
