A Texas gun rights advocacy group plans to hold a walk Saturday in Houston's historically African-American Fifth Ward. Members of Open Carry Texas told Local 2 Investigates that they plan to walk through Fifth Ward neighborhoods to educate people on their Second Amendment rights.
"If they come with their weapons, I'm quite sure they'll be a lot of us with weapons also," said community activist Quannel X.
After hearing Quanell X's statements, Open Carry Texas member David Amad defended the group's decision to hold the event in the Fifth Ward and said the organization's motivations are being prematurely misjudged.
"We've done 2,000 of these walks that haven't been in Fifth Ward. It's not like we just decided, 'Hey, let's wave guns around and go to a black neighborhood and do it,'" said Amad.
Amad said the group's message is simply to educate all Americans about gun rights.

Like I said, put them in the parade.
One of the hurdles we as conservatives have to face is that the American blacks distrust everything we do. If this is a gun rights parade, gun rights apply to all non felons.
Not many people realize that Mr. Q X makes his money by collecting the rewards on those ‘brothers’ who he convinces to turn themselves in.....in HIS custody! ;-)

I don't recall the second amendment containing a felon exclusionary clause. Anyone who should not be armed should not be running around loose. Even scum have the right to defend themselves.

These SFB’s were all set to do this a few months back. But there sobered up and called it off.

Shouldn’t that be “there will be a lot of us”? Or perhaps “there’ll be a lot of us”?
Anyhow, the best response to this would be for the leadership of the open carry group to say “lawful exercise of the 2nd Amendment has no racial boundaries. Early gun control efforts were aimed at preventing Blacks from arming and defending themselves against violence by racist groups like the Klan. If Mr. X and his fellow Blacks want to show up with legal weapons, they’re more than welcome to march with us, and we’d encourage and enjoy them doing so.”
This is a good opportunity for the gun group to *encourage* “Black people who can legally carry weapons to join us in a celebration of civil rights. Bring your guns and be welcome! Legal guns in the hands of honest people are not to be feared.”
They could go on at length about how the KKK tried to take guns away from black people, how the NRA was founded to protect the rights of black people to be armed.
And they can conclude that anyone who wants black people disarmed wants them to be helpless to any brute who wants to oppress them.
They need to rent a few buses and take a road trip to Missouri.
That would go over real big.
