“You seem awfully sensitive about this. Is there something you would like to share with the group?”
Yes I have a bipolar relative, *sshole.
>> “Are you a psychiatrist?” <<
.
Psychiatrists are the doormen to despair.
.
Try the word of God.
Amen
Yes, so sad...loved him in Mrs. Doubtfire - what a wonderful comedian and actor both. But like his hero Jonathan Winters, a troubled soul. Rest in peace, Robin, and thanks for all the laughs.
I’m getting off this thread. The truly crazies are afoot. And the funny thing is they think they are sane.
There is a time & place for everything. This is neither.
>> “and he was convincingly creepy (and sad).” <<
.
Perhaps he was trying to tell us something about himself?
.
You're correct, unless he was a raving lunatic who didn't know the difference between right and wrong. We live in a society that has grown so "understanding" that it's become impossible to hold people accountable for their behaviors; it's always some devil that makes them do what they do, and who are we to judge? Nevertheless, stigmatizing suicide probably would go a long way toward preventing would-be self-annihilators from putting their thoughts into action.
That is contradictory.
I like to remember the “Good Thief.” He was a sinner; he strayed. But Jesus welcomed him home on that day. “Verily I say to you, that on this day you shall be with me in Paradise.”
You interpret it your way, and I’ll interpret it mine.
That is your ignorant and destructive opinion.
.
Good point. The people who (ideally) are prescribed these medications are already to the point of clinical depression, which is not the same as simply feeling down about things. If you are having suicidal thoughts, there’s a pretty good chance your doctor will prescribe an antidepressant. If you go through with killing yourself, it’s a bit difficult to blame the drug. The drugs can help, they are certainly over-prescribed, they do have side-effects, and they are not a panacea. That said, they do help a lot of people get back on track.
“I have read articles about anti-depressants and the awful side effects of them. Some even warn of severe depression when taking them. Drugs affect people differently. Watch tv ads for some and they warn about that.”
Funny how you don’t talk about the ones that anti-depressants help, do you.
The thief confessed and repented. And he did endure to his end on Earth.
No interpretation is appropriate for God’s word. The message is always clear, needing no interpretation.
Williams was very ill & not in his right mind. We just don’t know where he is tonight. He might have cried out to God and received mercy.
Your posts portray a smugness about this man’s death. A little compassion is in order.
Anti-depressants usually cause one to do harm to others, not ones self. (every mass shooter has been on them)
You know, in another strange twist of this day, it really looks like the Robin Williams story really is going to get more attention than B. Hussein Obama’s pathetic little attempt to pretend to be a leader, isn’t it?
The networks will ignore Barry and be all about Robin Williams over the next couple of days.
Unless something even bigger happens, of course.

A purely fictional group!
And the damage from them remains for years after use.
.
So sorry.
It’s a hard thing.
