Iraq’s parliament just chose a new President who refused to rename Prime Minister Nouri Kamal al-Maliki to a third term. Maliki declared the move unconstitutional and his own State of Law Party pulled support from him. Now his forces are seizing government buildings in Iraq, have closed the airport, and are surrounding the Green Zone.

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama on Saturday refused to give a time limit on America’s renewed military involvement in Iraq, saying he doesn’t think “we are going to solve this problem in weeks” as the country struggles to form a new government.
“I think this is going to take some time,” he said at the White House before departing for a vacation on Martha’s Vineyard off the Massachusetts coast.
Obama warned Americans that the new campaign to bring security in Iraq requires military and political changes and “is going to be a long-term project.”
The president said Iraqi security forces need to revamp to effectively mount an offensive, which requires a government in Baghdad that the Iraqi military and people have confidence in. Obama said Iraq needs a prime minister — an indication that suggests he’s written off the legitimacy of the incumbent, Nouri al-Maliki.

Erdogan just won big in Turkey, didn’t he? So he’s feeling tough right now. He and Iran and their “Alliance of Civilizations” can chug right along.
Well, to say he’s won is rather like saying our Presidents actually win an election...let’s just say “appointed” might be a better term the way nations now install leaders.
While we’re all keeping a watchful eye on the ME it’s important that also be on Turkey....the whole ground is shaking over there but eventually it will “settle”.....I have my own guess who is going to come out on top, if not now later. And it won’t be good for any.
I think Salvation there does come a time when we need to pray God bring them out of the ME...things are not going to get any better there as it’s shaping up and with the majority Muslims who will support this Caliphat.....ISIS is saying Jordon’s next...they are on a roll and so far none are stopping them.

He installed Maliki, a fellow Shiite, as Prime Minister - the same Maliki who started a Coup today. Soleimani and Iran will not let Maliki and Iraq fall to ISIS Sunni forces. Soleimani can care less about Iraqi elections. He personally pays for his Al Quds forces with Iraqi oil from Maliki. That is the deal. He has too much at stake. And he has serious weaponry, not tactical Tundra pick ups for butchers with Ak 47s like ISIS. The Iranian Al Quds will wipe out ISIS and anyone opposed to Iran, inside Iraq. Whats next? That’s whats next.

I believe you are correct, Iran is waiting in the wings. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them flood into the Shia southeast as far as Baghdad (taking control of Shia pilgrim cities Najaf and Karbala) and then make a (temporary) peace with ISIS, allowing ISIS to expand elsewhere and Iran to consolidate, after which may come the Great Shia-Sunni Conflagration.

Actually, there was a Kurdish candidate for President in the recent Turkish election. Moreover, Turkey favors a stable Kurdish neighbor compared to a crazy Iraqi neighbor.
