“If I was worth 50 billion I’d live in a 3,000 sq foot home,drive a $100K car,wear a Casio watch,eat at McDonald’s (and occasionally Ruth’s Chris) and vacation,in January,on the west coast of Florida.”

No you wouldn’t.

Yes...I would. My Dad was a child of the Depression. However, during the 1950's,1960's and 1970's he did fairly well.Never a billionaire surely but fairly "comfortable".During his entire life, including during his years of "prosperity",he always lived well below his means. Our house was nice but he could have afforded much better. He always wore Timex watches and drove Oldsmobiles when he could have afforded *much* better. He had nice clothes...nice suits, shirts and shoes,particularly...but that was required for his job.His leisure clothes were very ordinary.

I'm a lot like him in that regard.I live a life that's certainly comfortable and secure (despite the Rat Party's best efforts) but I live well below my means. That goes for my house, car, diet, watch, flying coach...everything.I'm a long way from "rich" but my life is comfortable enough today that winning 50 billion in the lottery wouldn't cause me to change my lifestyle to any dramatic degree.

Perhaps it can be said that I,too,am a child of the Depression.
