The strategy of genocide does nothing to establish anything. I hope that ISIL rots in a hell they create for themselves, post haste.

Newt Gingrich was on with CNN this morning and nailed it as far as I’m concerned on what the US should be doing about the threat of ISIS. And the first thing he pointed out was telling the truth about ISIS, that it’s a radical Islamic extremist organization that will kill everyone unless they convert to Islam. He didn’t mention how puritanical they are about it, but close enough.
He was then asked what the US should be doing and he said this:
I think that we should be arming and training the kurds who are very reliable. We should be arming the traditional tribes with whom we had very good relations back when we were in Iraq. We should be providing air power in a massive way. We should be hunting down ISIS anywhere it exists, whether it’s in northern Syria, Lebanon or it’s in Iraq.
But our goal shouldn’t be to stop ISIS. Our goal should be to destroy ISIS. This is a radical anti-human organization.
…I think if you train and equip kurds and traditi sunni tribes and ally yourself with everybody who wants to defeat isis you will in fact defeat ISIS.
Another excellent point he made is that ISIS is a WORLDWIDE threat, not just a local threat to Iraq. They are in Syria, in Lebanon, and in Iraq. We can’t just pawn this off on Iraq and say ‘good luck’ defeating ISIS.

All of these comments arguing over history and religion are distractions. I would allow that history is important, and got us to where we now are, and that the battles and murder of prisoners described above are religious in nature.
However, one true fact remains that almost all of us can agree on: The murder of prisoners and civilians who have been captured is gruesome and illegal. The Geneva Convention specifies how prisoners of war are to be treated but also includes treatment of conquered civilians (note--it allows a state at war to use weapons against enemy territory and it is not a war crime if civilians are accidentally killed, only if deliberately targeted--in other words, you can only bomb military or industrial targets of your enemy).
So, what ISIS is doing is in direct violation of the all the various Geneva Conventions and other international rules and laws of armed combat as created by the world community of man. The United Nations MUST respond.
An immediate meeting of the Security Council should occur and discuss these atrocities and crimes against humanity that ISIS is committing and force them to stop, even to the point of the world community using armed military/police powers of deadly force.
It is acts like ISIS are making that the United Nations were formed to counter and are supposed to stop! We cannot go back in time to stop Hitler or Pol Pot but surely we must look at what ISIS is doing RIGHT NOW and force them to stop. They are war criminals of the worst kind and if there is ever a justification for a police/military anywhere to use force to stop violence, this is it.
We act now, or we all hypocrites when we declare some event in history is a war crime. We have one taking place before our eyes. Can we not stop bickering about the past and stop this one????
