Paul Wolfowitz, a former senior George W. Bush administration official and one of the chief Iraq War architects, said on Tuesday that the U.S. won the war in Iraq.
When asked his thoughts about the current situation in Iraq and whether the war was a mistake, Wolfowitz replied, We have won itin 2009. [ ]
Iraq is now facing a terrorist insurgency from a Sunni extremist group, and critics blame the Obama administration for not working hard enough to secure an agreement.
I think we could have had one if we wanted it, Wolfowitz said of the agreement.

Tell it to the Iraqis who are now being slaughtered, raped and pillaged.
If we won, let’s go home!
We did
But we lost the peace.
Bush Won Iraq.
0bama Lost Iraq.
We won. Then we left for no good reason. Not leaving a base behind and a footprint to support the government is what led to this.
Precisely.
We also won most, if not all, military engagements in Vietnam. It’s the political side where we lose.
If you lost the peace, you lost the war.
No, we lost it.
The last war we won was WWII. To win the war, you have to win the peace.
The problem with kicking out a dictator and handing the country to the people is the fact that didn’t do the sacrifice required to gain that country and therefore aren’t willing to sacrifice to keep it.
Bush won the war, Obama lost the peace.
I’m no fan of Bush, but that’s the truth.

My only gripe, and it's a big one, is that Bush and all his cabinet members, save Bolton and Cheney (VP) have said NOTHING about the death, destruction and misery caused by Obama and his caliphate. That, to me, is unconscionable.
we won it... before we switched sides
winning it now means getting it back in the hands of AQ and MB
But you can never win the peace when fighting Muslims. Just ask Israel.
The only way to win is to annihilate them.
We would be better off today, if Saddam were still in power.
Granted, Hindsight is 20/20.
Right you are! I'm really tired off people like Wolfowitz picking an arbitrary date and saying that we won, as of that date. Arbitrary dates mean nothing. Final results mean everything.
Politicians who don't understand that will just go on repeating LBJ's and Bush II's mistakes.
While Obama and his minions, trash Bush at every opportunity.
