The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Wednesday ramped up its response to the expanding Ebola outbreak, a move that frees up hundreds of employees and signals the agency sees the health emergency as a potentially long and serious one.
The CDCs level 1 activation is reserved for the most serious public health emergencies, and the agency said the move was appropriate considering the outbreaks potential to affect many lives. The CDC took a similar move in 2005 in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and again in 2009 during the bird-flu threat.

I don’t believe that can happen. Not with Ebola Zaire.
Some other disease....sure...maybe so..
Why does a conspiracy have to be involved at all?
I hope you are right.
The Plum Island Animal Disease Center (PIADC) really doesn’t have any application to the two victims and it is hard to tell if it is even still operational (fedgov has tried to re-locate it apparently unsuccessfully).
More than you know
LOL, so you admit that you are determined to play troll on this. Why?
lol
Pig Flu!
H1N1!
Here’s Dr Carson on Cavuto Today:
Dr. Ben Carson claimed he would not have brought American ebola patients to the U.S. if he ran the CDC, saying its a factor of risk versus reward and a matter of protecting the American populace.
Carson appeared with Fox News host Neil Cavuto to discuss the transfer of two American ebola patients to CDC centers in the United States.
Would you have brought those patients here? Cavuto asked.
No, I would not have, Carson replied. Im not a risk-adverse person, but I think risks ought to be done in a logical way . . . The worst thing that can happen is so much worse than the best thing, you wouldnt even consider putting people at risk.
Its a matter of protecting the American populace, he continued. And thats the duty of our government.
Here are his credentials:
Johns Hopkins Hospital
Alma mater
Yale University
University of Michigan Medical School
I don’t care about Ben Carson, he is your guru, not mine.
You should ask him about letting Christian missionary doctors die yet you are fine with GIs coming home for life saving treatment.
No one wants to let them die. They’re in hospitals there, good enough to help ebola patients.
No the hospitals in Africa are not good enough, they are backwards and primitive, what do you have against Christian missionaries?
Yeah..lol..:-)
Thank you for the information. It seems to me that it would be a logical and safe place to treat a highly infectious patient and keep if geographically away from the CONUS. There are many containment measures there at Plum Island that are not anywhere else in the US with the geographic barrier.
It’s a opinion....everyone has one...
Frankly I saw no reason not to bring these two back home.
and the government did not do it. But they could have stopped it by banning the flight.
I just could not justify that if it were my decision and knowing that these facilities do this sort of thing all the time. Just not with Ebola, that I know of and I don’t see Ebola as being the most dangerous of diseases in terms of containment. There are worse.
So I am having a hard time understanding the fear. Concern...yes...fear....no.
The U.S. military is always helping.
Here they are helping during the 1976 Ebola problem.
“”We had a large footprint in Africa, Cummings said of the Defense Departments response to the first Ebola cases reported in 1976 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, formerly Zaire. Since that time, the Defense Department has answered numerous calls for assistance from the World Health Organization (WHO), nongovernmental organizations and ministries of heath and defense, he said.””
This is bizarre. It is almost like they are trying to start a pandemic and just can’t get it going.
I wish that were true. I’d feel a lot better about things. Unfortunately I think our ebola future depends on someone getting ill on an airplane, subway or other transportation and spreading it that way. The cases we know about are easier to deal with than the ones we don’t know about....
Is the TSA still performing their full body probe searches?
Sure, I could understand some of the reaction to them the first day, but by now it should have occurred to everyone that those two are not a problem at all, and in fact don’t even figure into the Ebola question and America.
We are sending more Americans to help, including military and CDC.
