Independent conservative Thomas Ravenel has been certified as a candidate for the U.S. Senate in South Carolina, meaning his name will appear on the November ballot alongside incumbent Republican Lindsey Graham, Democrat Brad Hutto and Libertarian Victor Kocher.
The certification of Ravenel the star of Bravo TVs reality television show Southern Charm - means he has met the states threshold of 10,000 valid signatures, according to election officials.
Thats not a big surprise, as Ravenel submitted more than 17,000 signatures last month and was within 60 valid signatures of qualifying for the ballot when we checked in on his status earlier this week.
Ravenels presence on the ballot is a major blow to the reelection efforts of Graham, who spent more than $5 million in the 2014 GOP primary only to see his unfavorability rating eclipse his favorability in a post-election poll. In fact Graham has remained at roughly 45 percent in a four-way race, and is unlikely to pick up any additional public support no matter how much money he spends.
Meanwhile without spending a dime on television advertising, Ravenel is already polling at 10 percent according to media surveys higher in several internal polls and like Hutto, he has what one consultant referred to as tremendous growth potential.
One thing is now very clear, though
with Ravenel on the ballot, Grahams reelection has gone from a foregone conclusion to a real struggle, the first legitimate test of the veteran politicians lengthy career.

Who is the Dem. candidate? And does he stand a chance in SC?
Lindsey Graham is the Democrat Candidate.
“Who is the Dem. candidate? And does he stand a chance in SC?”
Brad Hutto, and from what C. Edmund Wright says, not a chance.
Though with Ravenel and the libertarian draining votes from Graham, and others voting for the democrat to make sure Graham loses, you never know.
He’s a state senator from Orangeburg.
RCP ranks this race as Safe GOP - although a recent poll shows Graham sitting below 50%.
Graham will be out of a job, but would either the libertarian or the independent be any better?
“Graham will be out of a job, but would either the libertarian or the independent be any better?”
Graham is an insidious and scheming oligarch. So the answer to that question is yes, in every possible sense.
Does SC have a run-off or does the one with the most votes win?
The one with the most votes will be the new senator.
Doing his part to help the rats retain the Senate.
I'd assume the chances of either one winning are about equal to the chances of Salma Hayek dumping her billionaire husband and calling me for a date.
I don’t know what’s good about Ravenel, but I personally believe that the conservative strategy this year should be to challenge RINO’s in primaries and if they win. run independent candidates who are conservative in the general election.
If the bar is set high legally to prevent independents like here in my state PA, have a write-in candidate who is conservative.
NO MORE VOTES FOR RINO’S....
Graham is an insidious and scheming oligarch.

NO MORE VOTES FOR RINOS....

Bears repeating.
So, we're going to see a new guy...Senator Hutto.
Thanks for all your help.
Lindsey Graham Won his reelection on the backs of Democrats voting for him in the South Carolina Republican primary.
No sooner was the primary over than all those Lindsey Graham signs came down to be replaced with democrat signs.
Lindsey Graham made his bed with the devil and the devil ain’t too terribly interested in seeing him thou. When South Carolinian’s realize Lindsey Graham’s ploy they going to drop kick that **hole out of the state.
It seems impossible to imagine, but the GOPe is doing its best to snatch defeat from the jaws of what could have been an immense tidal wave of a victory. They may still get a wave, and they may still even get a majority in the Senate, but it will be far smaller than it could have been if someone with leadership skills and a vision were out there leading the charge. Newt did it in 1994, and forced the idiots in the Senate, like Dole, to go along with the Contract with America. If only there were such a leader today.
He is evil, vain and compromised.
Yes, he is.
I feel compelled to confess, though, that he had me fooled during the Clinton Impeachment proceedings. I hung on his every word. Silver-tongued devil had me mesmerized, but I am a wiser but sadder woman now.
The Clinton machine got to him, and they now share him with Obama.
