Don't know 'bout the rest of ya, but as a Swede and Volvo owner, I pretty much trust this company to experiment some..
(Link to clip below)
Would Sweden have been better off keeping left-side driving?
I don’t trust “self-driving cars” of any make or model. Anything I can’t control means something that someone else could, never mind a bot gone awry.
Has anyone pointed out this is going to destroy the insurance industry? And trial lawyers...
Yeah, they’ll just love it until the first little kid gets run over.
What I don’t trust in their ad is that the vehicle is “sustainable”. What does that mean anymore?
The lawyers in this country are licking their lips in anticipation of auto manufacturing product defect and GPS software application error lawsuits.
“Yeah, theyll just love it until the first little kid gets run over.”
- An idiot driving an ordinary car while drunk might hit a child playing in the street, while a self-driving Volvo in fact will
a) avoid hitting the child in the first case
b) protect any pedestrian by its unique “pedestrian airbag”

Complain all you want. Swedish engineering is miles ahead of your whining.
SAIC robotics lab had robot driven HUMVEE’s driving around Littleton, Colorado years ago. They had a human sit in the drivers seat so that other drivers wouldn’t freak out.

LOL. They are finally replacing a 2002 XC90 after all.
“Would Sweden have been better off keeping left-side driving?”
- Do you really wish to find out the answer to this question?
I present to you Kurt Olsson, the only (former) inhabitant of the friendly Swedish city of Gothenburg having been chased out of the city by raging mobs:

- Couldn’t agree more it’s about time for Volvo Cars to come up with something new.
Anyhow, a look at the coming, all new XC90’s interior:

I was ironic, it took almost 15 years to come with a new model. BTW, as far as Volvo is now owned by a Chinese Geely Co, would they keep a Vovlo name or would they sell under their upscale Red Flag (Xon Qui or what?)brand?
they can’t even make a car with proper air bag deployment here.. hell the keys won’t even stay on..
The lawyers are gonna have a field day when the first auto pilot equipped volt crashes and bursts in to flames..
I hope the door handles are still connected to the latch..
will this be available in the next Saab?
oh wait... ;)
Still don’t trust it.
You don’t know any of that. Except for what a drunk driver might do.
Never meant anything. Just a liberal catchphrase. Bad enough it’s in the Treaty of Lisbon.
“I was ironic”
- I was pretty much hoping you were not.
Volvo make fantastic cars and furthermore Volvo is a great employer. I’ve took part in building these vehichles and as an owner, I appreciate the fact that buddies of mine who know more about cars than I do could fix whatever problem there is at a minimum of time. I buyz cheap parts at a store nearby and a bottle off da whisky for my mate. Good life.
I had an XC70. Apart from electronic bugs, transmission was a total failure. Mechanics told me it’s a born problem because it is too weak for a 2.5T engine and Vovlo engineers also forgot to install a radiator to cool transmission fluid. What about Nivomat suspension? It cost a fortune to replace shock absorbers and a ride is still not comfy enough.
