Freedom is more important to me than almost any other civil virtue. That said, I don’t for a minute doubt that significant portions of the human population value order, equality, control of others and authority far higher than freedom. In fact ask any high school class in America whether the student would prefer freedom to equality and see what you get. None of them (almost) would understand equality to mean equal-before-the-law; they would construe it to mean equality of outcome and would vote for it by a significant majority.

.....Until those kids get out into “real world”. Then FREEDOM becomes a lot more important.
