No, it wasn't. Typical military weapons procurement. Once done, let the troops deal with the junk. We, the high and mighty weapons procurement bureaucracy, will not be embarrassed.

It was never fine. They discarded the 1911 for one reason: women couldn’t handle it.
Bring it back, and keep women 500 miles from combat.
