Airport staff tonight told of their fears of an Ebola outbreak after a passenger from Sierra Leone collapsed and died as she got off a plane at Gatwick.
Workers said they were terrified the virus could spread globally through the busy international hub from the West African country which is in the grip of the deadly epidemic.
The woman, said to be 72, became ill on the gangway after she left a Gambia Bird jet with 128 passengers on board. She died in hospital.

I’ll refrain, but it brings to mind leper jokes.
Because the head of CDC believes THIS: “Were not going to hermetically seal the borders of the US. Were reliant and interdependent with the world for travel, for trade, for the economy, for our families and communities.”
Or, becaue the CDC lacks jurisdiction over which flights can land in London.
I agree. I think the democrats are salivating at the thought of their Reichstag moment. They have already seen, at Ruby Ridge and Waco, that they can get away with anything, so going from soft tyranny to hard tyranny, would be as quick as one small executive order. Don't think for one second, that the Obungler is not thinking of this. He is.
“We need to fly them over to the US for their medical care/s”
Flying in two Ebola patients to a special CDC hospital in Atlanta is literally the backstory of AMC’s The Walking a Dead, is it not?
The plane was quarantined as officials desperately tried to trace everyone who had been in contact with the woman.
Too late; cat's out of the bag. This week should be interesting. Particularly since the US gov is bent on bringing it to the mainland themselves...
...and to think I had concerns about the border. /s
It’s moments like this I’m glad i live in the middle of nowhere.

Some days I actually expect Rod Serling to appear.

Mmm... Clams Casino.
Coming from Sierra Leone, though, I hope they did more than the preliminary test.
I know, I have seen that article a dozen times. Just remember, furniture, rent, water bill, electric bill, high speed Internet.
The reporting here is simply marvelous.
1. The patient didn’t die at the airport
2. The patient didn’t have ebola
Other than these two small incidentals, the headline here was so accurate...
Not good. And the death toll rises in the four countries, according to the latest (July 30) figures from WHO Africa.
As of 30 July 2014, the cumulative number of cases attributed to EVD in the four countries stands at 1,440 including 826 deaths.
From: http://www.afro.who.int/en/clusters-a-programmes/dpc/epidemic-a-pandemic-alert-and-response/outbreak-news/4238-ebola-virus-disease-west-africa-31-july-2014.html
This was on the 30th. There seem to be discrepancies in "official" numbers. I have no doubt that the actual numbers are much higher. There are so many unknowns with this horrible virus.
It’s called political correctness. Makes no difference what the issue is, black mobs playing knockout games, brown diseased thugs considered children illegally crossing our borders, homosexuals perverting sex and being heros for contracting AIDS, and now spreading Ebola fairly and squarely to all points of the globe. Did anyone ever doubt that the liberal utopian dream would eventually kill us all?
“13 Monkeys was good.”
One died from ebola, search for ‘12 Monkeys.’
>>In other words, we are willing to accept a few thousand deaths in the name of political correctness.<<
Ever hear the story about AIDS?
It is time to start medical screenings of all passengers from the vector countries.
“Does anyone speak jive?”
Mostly white hut staff.
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
