An open letter to the political right

Dear “Conservatives” and “Establishment Republicans,”

I write today in the hope you all can get over whatever anger, distrust or bruised egos this primary season and political year has caused you. We on the right need to unite and send a message to progressives by unambiguously retaking the U.S. Senate in November.

We all have some problem with what’s happened so far. Someone we liked lost a primary. Someone we didn’t won. Some piece of legislation we hate passed; some other piece we liked did not. No one is completely happy, but we all know things can get much worse – and will if we don’t put aside what divides and do what we must for the cause of liberty.

The political right has a habit of letting the perfect be the enemy of the good. This is exemplified by libertarians, and it’s the fast track to political irrelevancy.

Libertarians will hate that I’ve placed them on the right of the political spectrum, and indeed many of today’s libertarians indeed have no political home and are all over the map. Today, the term covers everything from the great Reason Magazine to big-government, socialized medicine-loving Bill Maher. The present day “libertarian” label can mean anything, so it means nothing.

But I’m not talking about those libertarians. I’m talking about the Ron Paul libertarians who were quite comfortable in a Republican Party with which they agreed on a majority of issues.

Back then, libertarians put aside their differences with conservatives and Republicans to work for the defeat of liberals and progressives. All three groups thrived, as did the nation. But now too many focus on the disagreements, the differences, and the scars that come with fighting for what we believe, win or lose.

Both sides have scars, but too many of us...

Well I'm clearly in the minority here.

Yes, you are.

I would like to see a GOP Senate majority in November.

If it is the GOP-e, or as I like to call them, the Democrat's Other Party Elite (the DOPE party), then there is utterly no difference. Amnesty, giveaway programs, gay marriage, being comfortable with a police state, and -- eventually -- strict gun control. No difference to see between the Dems and the DOPEs.

Personally, I don’t think you see the real situation clearly.

I will work as hard for GOPe candidates as Dick Lugar did for Richard Mourdock. It is an open secret he supported Donnelly in the general. Pay back is a bitch.

Not sure who your ire is aimed at.

If you're in a car heading over a cliff, what difference does it make if you go over the cliff in fourth gear or second gear?

Some of us are trying to put the car in reverse.

And then we get blamed for not wanting to go over the cliff in second gear.

If we're headed for the cliff, I'm putting up a fight.

" compromise always means giving up the conservative position and accepting 90% of the democratic position."

AMEN!

Just like compromise always means that Israel gives up something to her (read "our") enemies.

I will not be a slave. Arguing which masters will beat us less severely is a pathetic waste of time.

One key word: ELECTABLE.

Several names: Bob Dole, John McCain, Mitt Romney.

To that list I'll add: Jeb Bush, Chris Christie, Marco Rubio.

Furthermore: George Herbert Walker Bush as a perfect example of what it is that makes a Republican unelectable. He rode Reagan's coattails into office on a plank that promised to continue Reagan's Conservative movement. When he reverted to his RINO self he lost.

The problem isn't with Conservatives. The Conservative message is the winning message. The problem is that RINOs will either talk the talk, win, and then stab us in the back, or they'll run as their true RINO selves and lose.

Anybody the GOPe pre-ordains is unelectable. Period.

There is R-E and R-TP, and then there is D.

THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN R-E AND D.

This is R-TP v. R-E & D; the country class v. the ruling class; conservatives v. the self-anointed aristocracy.

When you catch up to these facts and this reality, then post away. Until then, find yourself a site that attracts like-minded lower order miscreants and trolls. Here, for example:

Your points are right on the mark. But, as the comments thus far clearly show, people are really, really mad and they are not going to take anymore. Unfortunately, what they are going to do is to shoot themselves in the foot and help the Democrats even though that is the last thing they want to happen.

The GOP can kiss my vote goodbye. The GOP just whitewashed the Benghazi issue by saying the military was not told to stay away or stand down and no one attempted to contrive a false reason for the attack. This from the Intelligence Committee lead by Republicans.

We have the House. Would we be better off if it were under Dem control? I don’t think so.

You need to think your battlefield scenario through. Just how will you manage to actually destroy the Rats and Weasels. I would like to do that as well but I see nothing short of armed revolution that would accomplish it in the short term.

What really is the strategy? I don’t get it. Teaching the GOPe some lessons is not a strategy. They will not get the lesson. They will not change their ways. They have to be replaced. And like it or not electing more Democrats by staying home this November will only move us further from that goal.

Agreed it’s time to reverse the Oslo peace formula of land for peace, every time the peace is violated by the Palestinians Israel takes another 5 square miles for a security zone. Of course for safety reasons the security zone must be free of any civilians or hostile forces and defensive fortifications constructed. That will bring true peace by punishing aggression as opposed to rewarding it.

I agree with the position that the establishment Republicans are perfectly happy being Democratic Party whores (battered wifes?) who react to defend Democrats from extremist conservatives.

The establishment Republicans get to mingle with the movers and shakers; they get to accumulate fortunes running campaigns; the Democrats' lip service that it's a two-party system waters establishment Republicans' ego, never mind what the fluid really is; establishment Republicans get government offices next to Democrats; MSM employees attack them as interfering with the Democrats. All the trappings but no real power and that's okay.
