y say that difficult times bring out the best in people. That appears to be true among some of the Hollywood elite during this most recent period of bloody conflict between the Israel Defense Forces and the radical Islamic terrorist organization Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
Celebrities like Joan Rivers and Howard Sternneither known for their history of insightful political commentaryhave recently weighed in on the Israeli side of the conflict, condemning the pro-Palestinian bias of the liberal international media. John Voight also spoke recently at a pro-Israel rally.
Now comes news from ynetnews of a generous gift from reality television producer and star Simon Cowell. Cowell, a pop culture figure best known for mocking contestants of questionable talent on television programs of questionable value like American Idol and Britains Got Talent, reportedly gave over $150,000 to the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces at a fundraiser.

Here's more brave Hollywood 'good guys'... nice to see them coming out for Israel.
I think that it’s awesome that the liberals have finally come out and admitted they are anti-Jew Nazis. I’ve known it all along. They have proven me right.
They are contrarian filth.
You wisdom is needed here.
Judging from his actions, Simon Cowell has made a decision that the Israelis are morally superior to the Palestinians.
What say you?
Ping for the link!
“They use euphemisms like “underdogs””
Yeah, these “underdogs” don’t just want land. They want to destroy Israel. They want to ‘kill all the Jews” in accordance with their scriptures.
IIRC dude has an island. Probably protected with former IDF soldiers.
Do YOU think that Cowell speaks for ALL Israelis? Israel is made up of Jews, Muslims AND Christians.
They latter two are often Palestinians, that is, Arabs.
The Jews are usually a mixed bag of humans from everywhere, MANY Americans and Russians.
When I visited Israel (2011) I was looking to see how they got along. Our guide, a former Baptist minister (and his wife), had done these tours for ages and knew the guides and had a VERY good rapport with them.
Our guide, Steve Ray, and all the guides he met up with, were fabulous. We got to meet MANY Palestinians. We met no Jewish Israelis that I know of. The Jewish Israelis left us tourists to ourselves.
We did see how they all got along...and they DID get along. Why? I gleaned these answers from what I saw, how I had lived in the KSA and who I was then.
1. There simply are NOT enough Jews to do all the things that have to be done in Israel.
2. Jews did not do every kind of job. Palestinians were the "menial labor," dishwashers, toilet cleaners, farmers, restaurant staff, etc. Jews were generally in what we might call white-collar jobs.
I remember Steve Ray took us to a "typical" Jewish employment agency. We all figured out why when we saw the THREE categories/windows of job offerings: (a) B.A. Bachelor's degree (b) M.A. Master's degree (c) Ph.D Doctor of Philosophy
He wanted to impress upon us the high level of education among the Jewish Israelis. I was impressed.
3. There were lots of comings/goings of Jewish Israelis. They seemed to be more fluid, moving more between the U.S. and Israel.
4. Jewish military were everywhere and there were regular roadblocks where all our passports were checked. THAT is part of the experience, a "police" state. Jewish Israelis certainly have the right to defend themselves. No one with any brains would dispute that.
Since we were living in Saudi Arabia at the time we were USED to that. The Saudis have a right to defend themselves as well.
They had to defend themselves (mostly) against other middle east Muslim countries, especially Iran and Iraq. The Gulf Arabs have been fighting over water and land since there have been Gulf Arabs.
I am positive that there were plenty of exceptions to what I just wrote.
Jerusalem was where we saw the fewest Palestinians. I think that I saw the Jewish men only...no obviously Jewish women, from my uneducated eyes. Their lives seemed to be more circumscribed to the home.
Many, but not all, of the men had the long beard, side curls and head gear.
I doubt that any Israeli, of whatever faith, with ANY brain power would say that Jewish Israelis are morally superior to Muslim/Christian Israelis. That would be arrogant. However, humans being what they are, do their part of the seven deadly sins: pride, greed, anger, lust, envy and gluttony. The FIRST deadly sin is PRIDE, the "original" sin of Adam and Eve.
I am also SURE that the citizens of Israel have their share of bigots. Every nation and culture has them. The USA and the West allow those bigots to spout their hatred.
THAT freedom of speech may NOT be so available in Israel for ALL Israelis of ALL faiths. THAT I do NOT know.
Have I done it?
They do not think. They react to their personal feelings, and since their minds are unused to thinking, their feelings are invariably easy to manipulate and wrong.
They’re everywhere, and too numerous. I’m afraid the other alternative would be the only feasible one, and resembles a certain Ayn Rand novel all too closely.
"Free Republic is here to continue fighting for independence and freedom and against the unconstitutional encroachment of ever expanding socialist government...
We believe in the founding principles with all our hearts and mean to defend them to our dying breath..."
~Jim Robinson
Best explanation I’ve heard.
