THE family of a teenager murdered while walking her dog on a nature trail believe she may have known her killer.
Police said Michigan schoolgirl April Millsap, 14, texted her boyfriend OMG ... I think Im being kidnapped to her boyfriend just before her death.
A couple walking the well-known Macomb Nature Trail in Armada, just north of Detroit, found Aprils body last Thursday night. Her dog Penny was standing guard.
It later emerged the dog had repeatedly approached other hikers before successfully leading the couple to her body.

Am I the only one who pauses at the “14 year old” and “boyfriend” part? I guess every 14 year old girl is having sex nowadays, but it just doesn’t work that way in our family.
Bless her heart. :( I can’t even imagine her horror.
I had a boyfriend since 4th grade, believe me it doesn’t necessarily mean sex
This was a church-going young lady. “Boyfriend” could’ve meant a young man who was a complete gentleman to her.
Prayers for this family. So sorry for the loss of this young girl. :-(
How do you make the leap she was having sex? A boyfriend means sex?
Sometimes it doesn’t even mean talking to each other. :)
A couple of important details missing from the story. How long was she missing before they found her body? Was the dog waiting for days before someone retrieved it? The story says the dog led people to her body and that the dog waited by her. If it was the same day and in a park how did the dog not attack the murderer and how would it have happened in broad daylight at a park? Doesn’t say how she was killed either.
I was a boyfriend in 4th grade. My girlfriend and I met at church. Sex was the furthest thing from our minds. Of course, that was 47 years ago.
Ask teens... “Prom” pretty much means sex too
I was over 6' tall when I entered 7th grade. I considered myself an adult and acted like one. :-P
I been reading true crime novels this summer. Sometimes the police leave out certain details to the public so they can build a stronger case in court.
When I was 5, I invited a girl from the kindergarten named Jackie to my birthday party but she said no.
While I’m a guy, I don’t remember not having girlfriends.
All the way back to 1st grade, Suzie. Pretty girl, had special dietary needs and brought her lunch everyday.
Then to the 1st girl I really kissed when I was 14. Don’t remember her name but, she was smoking.
The next year, at 15 I was in college and had two girlfriends. One had a Mustang, the other an Austin Healey and I rode my 10 speed everywhere.
So yeah, I can imagine a 14 year old having a boyfriend but, if I ever become a Dad my daughter won’t have a boyfriend til she goes to college.
Before that, I’ll spend lots of time cleaning my guns and sharpening knives....on the front porch....and monitoring my estate with cameras everywhere. ...
“Way down yonder in Dixie, old.....”
Hah! She came to our house and played on the slippey slide.
And the police are disputing the accuracy of the AP report. Evidently there was a text message, but not the one that's being reported.
Much more information here.
Meh. When I was in middle school practically everyone “dated”. They “broke up” within a week, usually. It was a fairly innocent, albeit stupid.
If she knew her kidnapper wouldn’t she have named him in her text message by adding two more words to her text message (”by _______”)? I don’t think she knew him and she didn’t have the time to do a descriptive profile on him.
That sounds like an insinuation against the murdered 14 year old. Shame on you.
Thanks for the link. So sad.
