During the filming, a nurse/healthcare worker contracted the virus. It was discussed about whether they locally had the authority to treat it, or whether it was Doctors Without Borders who would treat her.
They decided that they themselves would treat her, took the blood of a survivor, centrifuged it, and injected the plasma into the woman.
It worked. She survived.
Afaik, they are still unsure about how exactly the plasma worked - or even if it was that that worked, or if she healed herself.
Apparently, FReepers are doing more research on this subject than the MSM.
I should remember the old maxim: If it bleeds, it leads.
