For my whole life, I loved the American flag, and always felt proud and lucky whenever I saw it fly.

Now, it just breaks my heart to see it. It feels like total mockery and I feel like turning away.

Yes, but no one in the political sphere makes much of an issue about the troops anymore. Jill and Michelle a bit I suppose, but the media doesn't cover it. I'm not one to talk, mine came down in an ice storm last winter and I haven't found time to put the brackets back up.

Interesting. For two years we were the only ones flying a flag from our mailbox. Now, over half the house on the street have them. Someone complained to the homeowners association and was told to 'get over it.'

I have put the flag out nearly every single day since 9-11, and more of our neighbors seem to be flying them every day. Two new neighbors put theirs out right away on the days on which they moved in, which made me smile.
