Most of the numbers you will see or hear are going to be wrong. Those of us here on FR who follow these things have noted most often the governments downplay the numbers or give conflicting information.
Generally it is much worse than what they are telling you.
Went through all of this horror during the very beginning of the AIDs crisis in NYC when nobody knew what was going on. In retrospect, there was not much to worry about but who knew in the early 80s?
