claim Ukraine one day ahead of talks with Russia over access to the scene
Pro-Russian rebels have booby-trapped MH17 crash site with landmines, according to Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, making it impossible for international investigators to access the scene of the crash.
Ukrainian military spokesman Andriy Lysenko said the rebels were digging in for battle near the crash site: 'They have brought a large number of heavy artillery there and mined approaches to this area. This makes impossible the work of international experts trying to start work to establish the reasons behind the Boeing 777 crash.'
The fighting in eastern Ukraine prevented representatives of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe reaching the crash site on Tuesday for the third successive day.
The news came hours after Belarus announced it will host talks between Ukraine, Russia and the OSCE security and rights organisation on the crisis.
President Alexander Lukashenko's office did not state when the discussions would take place but Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko asked Lukashenko to host them on Thursday and to focus on securing access to the site where a Malaysian airliner was brought down in east Ukraine.
'Decisions are being made on a political level on ensuring safety on the site,' Michael Bociurkiw, a spokesman for the OSCE in Ukraine said on Wednesday.
An OSCE convoy had earlier on Wednesday been stopped by rebels about 10 km (six miles) outside the city of Donetsk because of fighting further along the route, but OSCE officials later denied it had been trying to reach the crash site....
There was no indication pro-Russian separatists fighting Ukraine's army would attend the talks, although Lukashenko's office said 'all interested sides' were invited.

Okay
Now that’s just plain stupid.
If euwope doesn’t get into it with Russia then ....Efff em
A little late, but it will certainly cut down on looting of the passengers' belongings.
Putin’s proxies at their moral best...
I’m thinking that about a dozen signs saying “Mine Zone” posted along the perimeter would have been sufficient —
The land mines are being put in place by the looters.
How does one say “Mine zone” in Spanish and pictorially?
I think everything was picked clean before the fires were put out. The only people it would effect now are “accident investigators” and we could save them some time - it was no accident.
Could you please check the title to make sure that I have it right —
Good news to our natural gas and propane industry in America, THAT IS, if the EU buys from us and the EPA gets off their backs.
If true, why? It’s incredibly bad PR, forgetting about the humanitarian/moral side.
Post of the day!
I saw where they opened up a Goodwill clothing store over there from just the clothes alone.
I expect a cosmetic store next.
...and summarily zapped by the thread moderator!
“If true, why? Its incredibly bad PR, forgetting about the humanitarian/moral side.”
I hear ya. I suppose PR goes out the window when you are trying to avoid a war crimes trial. Or something.
both sides have propagandists at work
The locals went over the area like locusts before the fires even burned out.
Can anyone tell me what an “investigator” could possibly find anyway? Sa-11, captured from the Ukranians by the rebels mistakenly fired on a passenger plane that was trying to save fuel by cutting across a war zone,in my opinion. Is that it? Airplane fall down go boom. All killed. What other factoid is even possible.
