Congressman: Close Border to Ebola Countries (Democrat Alan Grayson)
U.S. News & World Report ^ | Wednesday, July 30, 2014 | Steven Nelson

The dreaded Ebola virus has spread from the jungle into major cities in West Africa, and at least one American congressman believes it’s time to ban citizens of the three hardest-hit countries, as well as foreigners who recently visited them, from entering the U.S.

Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Fla., requested the travel ban in a Tuesday letter to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson and Secretary of State John Kerry.

Citizens of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone should be barred from entry, Grayson wrote, as should any foreign national who visited one of the countries 90 days before their intended visit to the U.S. He wants the proposed ban to remain in effect for the duration of the outbreak and to be expanded to any other country where Ebola takes hold.

“I urge you to consider the enhanced danger Ebola now presents to the American public, and therefore request that appropriate travel restrictions be implemented immediately,” he wrote.

Isnt there an African conference coming up soon in DC?

I thought I read that they were sending govt workers home for the week of the conference.

How many attendees are from these countries?

I havent heard anyone call for canceling the conference.

That would certainly make more logical sense.

Can’t believe I actually agree with Grayson on an issue.
Quarantine them in an off country location before allowing them in.

Heard that idiot Dr.Richard Besser on ABC last night say, ‘You have to come in contact with bodily fluids to contract it’. Then he assures us with, ‘You’re safe sitting next to someone with Ebola on a plane, including them coughing and sneezing” . HUH???

And then he shows us pictures of the dr.s in full hazmat garb, including goggles and respirators to treat patients.

Does his opinion also apply with those coming across the southern border with who knows what diseases?

The government is bringing in trainloads of possible ebola from the south. Who knows how many West Africans are coming over the border? The Border Patrol is not supposed to do anything to anyone.

Grayson is the one person that I wouldn’t mind contracting Ebola.

Pelosi and Reid are my choices.

Wouldn’t that involve securing our borders and knowing for sure who’s entering the US?

It would be impossible, even if this thing were to spread viciously, to get those who rule the world to do that. Everything's about the economy. That and gaining advantage in wars.

What's going to happen when (not if) this thing gets into refugee camps and/or war torn areas? I doubt we the little folk would even know the severity of any outbreak.

In the US, I wonder what's going to happen when schools begin opening. The hordes crossing in from the south and who knows how many refugees from everywhere are going to be enrolled.

“Grayson is the one person that I wouldn’t mind contracting Ebola.

Pelosi and Reid are my choices.”

SORRY, I guess I misspoke! The words should have read “one of the persons...”
Actually, I could fill a good-sized cemetery with my “whole list,” and the two that you mentioned would be at the very top.
