""The likelihood of this outbreak spreading beyond West Africa is very low," admitted Stephan Monroe, deputy director of the CDC's National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases."

A University of Texas at Austin biology prof, Pianki, has been leacturing his students promoting the idea that 90% of the human race needs to be wiped off the face of the earth with ebola. His wish may be coming true but he’s yet to step to the front of the line.
*His wish may be coming true but hes yet to step to the front of the line.*
Funny how those that want the common people to live lives of misery are never affected by that same misery!
Like I said earlier...that stupid flu a few years ago had them warning us like we were school children...
Now...they’re telling us not to worry?
Right. A few cases hit the Caribbean and south of the border vacation spots...dang...they won’t need a direct flight here! Between tourist coming home as carriers to illegals crossing the border...
A few more days for the Can-can festival at Shot Rite. Think I’ll stock up on can and dry goods. Ebola starts to show its ugly face I am going underground.
That would be a major difficulty to deal with. Can't easily bug out because can only carry off a fraction of supplies. On the SF peninsula with millions of people and few farms, people will starve and panic. I have friendly neighbors with arms, we would watch each other's backs and our vegetable gardens. Hope Ebola stays away.
Hand sanitizer, bleach and lysol would be prudent as well.
So, to paraphrase JF’nK; It’s low until it’s high....
The jihadis are cowards. They'll blow themselves up or crash a plane, but giving themselves a horrid painful disease isn't their style. I'd expect that their leaders would expose them without their knowledge, wait til they are likely contagious, and then dispatch them to NYC or Disney World, with multiple plane changes en route.
I watched Fox yesterday morning, and they had a doctor on who said this was a highly contagious strain of the disease.
Believe it or not there are viruses that can survive even that....
Even in a Mad Max situation, 30-60 days will probably wipe out 90% of the population, mostly urban, mostly stupid.
Well, that's a relief. Your chances of survival have rocketed from one in ten to four in ten. BTT
It will wipe them out because the aren’t prepared. I am say BE PREPARED!
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
Ping....
In your dreams.
They just let of whole planeload of people who were exposed to a man who was at peak contagiousness, go their merry way.
Three weeks from now and we'll just begin to find out what the consequences of that are.
Looks like a good time to begin some really serious medical prepping and getting ready to hunker down and avoid as much contact with others as possible until this thing shows signs of burning out.
As kart is I’m sure aware, it is not just the infections. It can be the FEAR of infection too that can cause a shut-down. Let’s say the you are fine and dandy and not afraid. But 30% of your neighbors make a rush on the store and empty it out.
Then the store workers get worried and don’t show up for work to restock the shelves. Or their kid/spouse/sister has flu symptoms and they want to stay home to care for them. Or they are told if someone nearby gets sick - don’t come to work.
Same goes for the people down at the power station, fire fighters, police as they don’t show up for work.
Things could go from bad to worse pretty quickly.
I’m guessing give it another month or so to reach the USA. Just in time for school to be in session.
God help us. And God help those already infected.
