Call it the return of the summer "polar vortex" if you want -- a mass of cool, dry air from the north is forecast to bring more unseasonably cool temperatures next week in Maryland and across the eastern United States.
**SNIP**
Twice this month, Baltimore has set new record lows, most recently on Friday. The low of 57 degrees at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport broke a record set in 2008, of 59 degrees. On July 18, a low of 57 broke a record dating to 1976.

But the cooling trend is somewhat unique to the eastern U.S. June was the third consecutive month to rank as the warmest on record for global average temperature.
Records are being broken all over the place - cold AND hot. Just how many 'scientists' saw that comin'? As far as June goes, that's the month when the last Great Lake finally thawed out. As always, I blame Canada.

I had upper 80s, but the Weather Channel says it may be low 80s by Friday.

Currently 60 degrees, and just got through 18 straight hours of rain
Joe Bastardi of weatherbell.com called for it last Saturday, most times Excellence gets us a link on Satuday P.M.
Glow Bull warming is B.S.- Bastardi says so , and this week is proof

Polar vortex sounds like chicken little routine.
Same ole jet stream doing what it's done many times over.

forgot to mention : Bastardi called for this cooling trend two weeks ago !
Anybody named 'Bastardi' has already taken some lumps; just so that you know of what he speaks !

I remember a real cool summer / cold winter stretch in the Great Lakes back in 76/77/78.
I would not be surprised if we had another real cold winter.

The cold weather is due to global warming. (Yes, I’ve actually heard people say that.)
To: Libloather
I read in an article on American Thinker.com that the June 2014 temperature was 1/20th of a degree warmer than the previous records in June 2010.
1/20th of a degree, not worth writing home about, but definitely enough for a globull warming scare headline.

And since they’re working with means anyways, it “means” nothing.

I remember fishing on Lime Lake, NY in August 1976. It was in the low 40’s that day and saw a few snow flakes to go with that “unseasonably cold” day... Never forgot that, and never will.
Polar vortex...global warming/climate change....this is not a new phenomenon.

Your relatives should call you in January.
In SFL, the summer is our penance for the rest of the year which is paradise.

One of the increasingly few reasons I stay in the Mid-Atlantic is that I love the summers. Call me crazy, but I’m very happy when it’s 90 degrees with 95 percent humidity. This has not been a good summer for me.
