Police detained two men at a Midtown hotel late Friday after a doorman reported they possessed a pair of pressure cookers like those used to make the Boston Marathon bombs. But the men say it was a misunderstanding: They plan to use the pressure cookers to prepare rice, chicken and meat.

And there really is a tooth fairy!
Well, I am sure glad you are proud to be a dumbass...
I am glad you weren’t a teammate of mine in Vietnam...Some Vc points a rifle and you would’ve said, “He’s just checking out his sights...Not to worry...”
The article doesn’t say if they took the pressure cookers out of their car, like did they take them up to the room or did the doorman see them when the bags were being removed from the car or what? Maybe I’m missing something.
In any case, to be so offended after the cops filled them in on what they were supposedly ignorant of doesn’t seem to be the reaction of a reasonable person. I wonder who called the press over it.

I’m with you, to a point.
Trading freedom for security isn’t a good idea, as living under the Patriot Act under the Obama regime has clearly shown.
You do need a lot more than a pressure cooker to create a bomb. If someone was going to supply them with those materials couldn’t they have provided the pressure cookers also. I have been known to buy ammo and other stuff when on the road because I was getting a good deal. I think investigating these two was warranted, but sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
I think because of recent history and the circumstances involved here called for the questioning of the two... They were not arrested, only questioned...
As far as IMR’s analogy of having gasoline in his vehicle, that is probably as stupid a comment as I’ve seen recently...
Everyone has gas in their car...Not everyone carries two pressure cookers to a hotel in New York after what happened in Boston...
Is it the same kind of rice that John Kerry was wounded by in Vietnam ?
Can you cook vegetables and chicken with the rice in that type?
I own a simple rice cooker, it doesn’t have all those buttons, just one for turning it on and I guess it knows when to stop because of the weight of water and rice.

After reading your comments, it seems you go to extremes on everything...The way you talk, any and all police action is a result of being in charge of a “police state”...You want to live in an anarchist society...no control of law at all....
I think it just does rice. I wouldn’t know about that particular type.

Cooking rice in a pressure cooker is not a good idea. Rice clogs the ports. Ka-boom!
Yeah, must be a coinkidink that all the jokes, fears, and hyperbole about pressure cookers have to do with stuff that "blowed up real good".
A jihadi attraction to pressure cookers is like flies to shiite.
And nobody in Idaho has ever heard about the Boston Marathon terrorist attack, because they don't have televisions and stuff like that in Idaho.
They said, You havent heard about Boston? And I said No. And they told me about Boston.
I'd like to know just where in Idaho these two yutes live?
I think that's a very reasonable interpretation.
Halal maybe? #devilsadvocate
So you have no problem with two Middle Easterners entering an upscale New York hotel with a couple of pressure cookers after what happened in Boston???
You DO have a problem about the police questioning them???
