For decades we have been subjected to a journalistic feeding frenzy every five years to celebrate the anniversary of the resignation of Richard M. Nixon.
We are now two weeks and a day from the fortieth anniversary of President Nixons resignation on August 9, 1974. But, as we know in 2014, compared to what the Democrats will excuse in any Democrat, Richard Nixon was pure as the wind-driven snow.
I suggest that it is time to celebrate Nixons refusal to put the country through a crisis, first by declining to contest JFKs razor-thin victory amid allegations of irregularities in significant states in 1960, and then by declining to fight to the bitter end in 1974.
Which is easier to believe - that Nixons secretary accidentally erased an 18-minute segment of a tape while being distracted by a confusing phone call, or that 19 IRS hard drives (less than twenty, according to the government) all crashed at the same time and were (illegally) recycled while there was (also illegally) no backup anywhere?
I would not want apologize to WJC for anything.
I think Bonnie and Clod were among the most despicable low lifes ever to occupy the WH.
Look at this, this is protesters in EGYPT! It's a MUSLIM COUNTRY! That's how radical Obama is! This is the kind of President Democraps got us.
The Democrat-Media Complex has dwelled for 40 years on an 18 minute gap out of hundreds of hours of tape that actually got turned over to Congress, but the IRS destroys hard drives, emails, and erases hundreds of entire backup tapes... and that’s no big deal.
August 10, 1974, I walked into the FARMER’S MARKET in Bloomfield NM and there at the checkout counter was the STAR tabloid with this headline in big bold letters...
JEAN DIXON SAYS NIXON WILL NOT RESIGN!
Ten years later, Jean Dixon’s PR people made the claim that she HAD predicted Nixon’s resignation.
What Nixon did was minor compared with what both Clinton and Obama have gotten away with.
I totally agree - Nixon demonstrated more love of his country in both 1960 (compare with AlGore’s determination to put the country through a Constitutional crisis in 2000) and 1974 (compare with Clinton’s lies in 1998- ‘nuff said) than any Democrat president ever has or would.
LBJ helps hide what JFK did to us.
From Vietnam, to the 1965 Immigration Act, to homelessness (permanently emptying the mental hospitals in 1963 legislation) to unionizing government, to stealing the 1960 election and giving us LBJ, JFK was the end of America.
However, if there is one man who can take the most credit for the 1965 act, it is John F. Kennedy. Kennedy seems to have inherited the resentment his father Joseph felt as an outsider in Bostons WASP aristocracy. He voted against the McCarran-Walter Act of 1952, and supported various refugee acts throughout the 1950s.
In 1958 he wrote a book, A Nation of Immigrants, which attacked the quota system as illogical and without purpose, and the book served as Kennedys blueprint for immigration reform after he became president in 1960.
In the summer of 1963, Kennedy sent Congress a proposal calling for the elimination of the national origins quota system. He wanted immigrants admitted on the basis of family reunification and needed skills, without regard to national origin.
After his assassination in November, his brother Robert took up the cause of immigration reform, calling it JFKs legacy. In the forward to a revised edition of A Nation of Immigrants, issued in 1964 to gain support for the new law, he wrote, I know of no cause which President Kennedy championed more warmly than the improvement of our immigration policies. Sold as a memorial to JFK, there was very little opposition to what became known as the Immigration Act of 1965.
