Just out of curiosity, what material are cigarette filters made from anyways?

Cigarette filters are made from any one of very many specific varieties of cigarette filter tow that is a continuous ribbon of extremely fine cellulose acetate fibers ie 35,000 total denier. The tow is bundled into a wrapped pencil shaped strip then cut into the length required.
