Bet a dollar to a donut that 1.3 percent of those only THINK they are gay and/or lesbian because it's "the next big thing" right now and they love the celebrity status it brings. Everybody wants to be a "victim" these days.
I’m a lesbian trapped in a man’s body. Does that count?
Mrs WBill has a fair number of gay friends and acquaintences leftover from college. Most of them are older (now...along with the rest of us :-) ) so they're not militant, young, and angry. Their attitude is, roughly, "I'm gay. So what. If you don't like it, that's your problem." Frankly, I get along OK with most of them. We don't have much in common; I don't necessarily approve of their lifestyles, but they're not unpleasant to make small talk with for brief periods I see them at get-togethers.
However....
There's a small subset of this group who I'd call "Flaming Drama Queen Attention Whores". Nothing is too outrageous. They proudly portray every negative gay stereotype that there is. I'm convinced, after hearing about them (and seeing them) for a number of years that their actions are a conscious decision. A flamboyantly gay lifestyle is a way to get more attention, without losing any social status. And - if there was a way to get even *more* attention (without losing any status), they'd drop the whole gay thing and pursue that instead.
I can't stand these few people. Mrs Wbill says that watching them is like watching a train wreck. Honestly, I wish she'd cut them all loose as I like her friends from church a whole lot more. I suppose that she doesn't approve of my old drinking buddies from way back when either....
Just my $0.02. YMMV.
>> only THINK they are
Similar thought crossed my mind. Curious about the percentage that act out homosexual behavior to exclude the random trials.
