Personally, I will never be done with America. It’s my country. I fought for it. I shed blood for it. I’ve identified the bodies of fallen patriots who gave everything for it. I will not give up until it is rid of every commie, socialist, progressive and terrorist who would destroy it.

You sir, have my utmost gratitude, respect and thanks. I've not been where you've been, but I'll happily join your side when the day comes.

Thank you BuffaloJack for your words and your service. To give up on America is to give up on the ideals she was founded upon - that “all men are created equal and are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights. . .”.

And, another thing - those who say that America has sinned beyond the point of forgiveness or repentance, I understand that despair. I too, see the moral decadence we have descended to with abortion, materialism, tolerance for depravity (homosexuality), ingratitude, violence, godless arrogance, etc. It’s true that our nation surely deserves judgement from God, and I would say we already are experiencing some of that now.

From a sane and moral person’s viewpoint, it looks pretty grim and hopeless. But, remember that despair, cynicism, glee over judgement, are NOT Godly attributes. Hopelessness isn’t either. As long as there is God and people who believe, trust, and seek to follow His Word - there IS hope.

I think of what many a soldier felt like at the winter of 1777 at Valley Forge - No food, no equipment, no pay, no shoes, freezing weather, no victories to celebrate - Washington was begging the Continental Congress for food and supplies and more men. He wrote that his army was melting far faster than the snow. From a “realist’s” point of view, it looked hopeless. In September of 1814, our most formidable enemy, Britain, had defeated our outnumbered, outgunned, ragtag “army” and captured our capital city, burning much of it to the ground. Our president and his wife had to flee the city or be captured by the enemy - that had to look pretty bad to the average citizen as well.

I could list other dark times - when our nation split in two and we were killing each other by the tens of thousands, when the decadence of the 1920’s was followed by the horrific depression and many Americans literally starved to death, on the beaches of Normandy the first few days after D-Day, our men laid among the thousands of dead comrades in arms - all those were times of terrible uncertainty as to the future of the country.

After September 11th, we watched firemen, police, rescue personnel of all types, construction workers, all desperately working together to try to save as many people as they could from under the burning rubble of the Twin Towers - rescue crews volunteered from across the nation to pay their own way to go to New York to help with the rescue efforts, and when they got there, they had difficulty getting the original fire crews and rescue personnel to stop and let them take over to give them a break, but many wouldn’t and kept going until they dropped from exhaustion because their buddies were still buried under all that debris - when Americans across the nation gave food, supplies, money, anything they could do to help.

It hit me then that America was not yet finished. Yes, a lot of crap has followed since then, but I learned that day that we never know the hearts of all our fellow countrymen, we do not know what all God is doing behind the scenes, we do not know the end result of everything. All we can do is continue to do the right thing, to trust and hope in God and in His mercy, to do our best at our jobs, to tell the truth, to refuse to grow cold, bitter, and callused. But most of all, to refuse to fall into despair. So, I am going to keep praying, voting, talking with friends and family to change their minds, to argue for the right, defend it, try to live it, raise my grandchildren with Godly values.

The nation may fall. God may judge us according to our sins, we deserve it no doubt, but we have never deserved the blessings God has poured out on us. We have never “earned” His mercy. So, I must trust in His goodness and mercy and hope in Him - trust Him that He can can still work miracles - even with our beaten and battered nation.
