Looters are reported to have descended on the Ukrainian field where Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH17 crashed last Thursday and ransacked victims possessions.
According to witnesses, many pieces of luggage that were pulled from the charred crime scene had already been opened and rifled through, USA Today reported.
Among the items left behind were a Minnie Mouse lunchbox, a Winnie the Pooh stuffed animal, family photographs and passports that were still intact.
The daily also reported that the lack of security in the area likely encouraged the heartless ransacking.
It said that the scene has not been cordoned off and unidentified men were allowed to walk into the area.
MH17 was en route to Kuala Lumpur from Amsterdams Schiphol Airport when it crashed in Ukraine near the Russian border on Thursday.
It was reported to have been shot down by pro-Russian separatists.
All 298 people onboard, including 15 crew members, are believed to have been killed.
People in every COMMUNIST country survive by stealing.
Russia & Ukraine are no longer old world communist, but
habits die hard.
According to the USA Today article the looting is occurring in a town “bordering Russia”. Excerpt:
“In some areas of this field, near the small town of Grabovo in a remote eastern Ukrainian farming region close to the Russian border, backpacks and other carry-on luggage were grouped together. It was clear that looters had opened and rifled through some of them.”
Isn’t Grabovo near the border of Moldavo? Seriously, can’t these idiots get their facts straight? Where the hell did this plane crash exactly, and why is so hard to pinpoint????
There are a number of places named Grabovo. It’s the Springfield of Eastern Europe.
I answered my own question. The crash site is in Hrabove, Donetsk Oblast. Not Grabovo.
What a bunch of douchwagons.
Indeed they do. The proles eat cardboard while the beuocrats eat caviar. Sound familiar?
That's true. But there are scumweasels everywhere. Years ago a passenger plan crashed into Wyoming's Mt. Moran during a winter storm. That spring a guy I knew bragged about how he and his buddies climbed the mountain and stole money, wedding rings etc. from the dead passengers before any officials could get to the site. There are disgusting predatory humans in every country and time.
People (very broad definition of the word people) doing that need shooting real bad.
You are of course right. Thieves exist in EVERY country.
Even Scandinavia & Iceland! However thieves in communist
countres outnumber capitalist countries by 3:1 (percentages).
Yes, and this is in the Pro-Russian separatist territory, so, not much in the way of responsible law and order around, and what might be there is incredibly corrupt — probably assisted with the looting.
“.....thieves in communist countres outnumber capitalist countries by 3:1 (percentages)........
Ah, I think you overlooked Washington D.C. There are more thieves per capita there than anywhere else in the world, their called “politicians”.
I'd have to guess that the proportion of looters residing and working inside the Washington DC beltway must outnumber looters in rural Ukraine by about 100:1.
(But I'm a little surprised that pieces of the Boeing 777 haven't shown up on Ebay.)

Congress.’ -Mark Twain
I used to run a farmers’ market and had an older Russian couple as regulars there. My Hmong veggie vendors kept an eagle eye on her because she chronically stole stuff but was bold faced and wasn’t intimidated by them. Finally, she was caught stealing a single onion and I had to deal with her. I was polite but pointed and insisted that this behavior stop or she’d be banned. They never came back.
Felt bad about that, too. Husband was a classic looking Russian dude and smoked like a smoke stack. We talked about the old days and, I think, maybe both longed for the uncomplicated simplicity of them. It was hard for them to live here but their grandchildren were already Americans.
I know how they will vote when they finally make illegal passage to us...
Ping.

MH17 Crash: Looting Reported at Crash Site
Not to distract from the main article, but there have been reports about Emergency responders stealing from accident victims. Here’s another incident:
Trooper pleads guilty in theft from dying motorist
July 17, 2014
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) A Connecticut state trooper has pleaded guilty to charges he stole cash and jewelry from a dying accident victim.
The Connecticut Post reports 45-year-old Aaron Huntsman entered a guilty plea Wednesday to charges of larceny and tampering with evidence under the Alford Doctrine. That means he does not agree with the state’s case, but concedes there is enough evidence to secure his conviction.
Prosecutors say Huntsman, a 19-year veteran of the state police, was caught on video from his cruiser’s dashboard camera stealing a gold chain and $3,700 from 49-year-old John Scalesse as the motorcyclist lay dying on Sept. 22, 2012.
Scalesse was fatally injured when his motorcycle crashed on the Merritt Parkway in Fairfield.
Huntsman faces 18 months in prison when he is sentenced on Oct. 3.

There was nothing in the OP about first responders-—it’s about thieves.
.
No doubt, crime in certain pockets of country such as in DC are probably off the charts. My Reason? We are very lenient with criminals. How can a person having a rap sheet numbering in the dozens be out of prison?
We lived in Vancouver, WA for many years and there are lot of Russian immigrants there. My wife worked in a large medical practice there. Lots of Russians patients received free healthcare, free translators and free transportation to the medical facility. And we noticed lot of Russians using food stamps in grocery stores. Russian immigrants seem to be experts in milking the system.
There are pictures on the web of the crash site where there is scattered foreign currency.
Well...it probably reminds them of the old country.
