That was my point: if the objective is to exclude possibilities, then starting the analysis with "who benefits?" severely limits the pool of them at the outset. Then, if another possibility is excluded because there was no benefit, then one is heading down the wrong path.

In other words, one would start on the wrong track and then head in the wrong direction.
