James Cole, deputy attorney general in the Department of Justice, testified Thursday that the DOJ heard about the destruction of IRS officials’ emails in the news, even though DOJ has formally been investigating the IRS for more than a year.
“I think we learned about it after that, from press accounts,” Cole told House Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee chairman Rep. Jim Jordan at a hearing Thursday on the DOJ’s response to the wave of computer crashes at the IRS that wiped out seven different employees’ hard drives. DOJ has allegedly been conducting a widely-mocked investigation into the IRS conservative targeting scandal for more than a year, and recently announced that a new investigation is underway into the IRS missing emails.

“So you actually read about it in the press and nobody in the IRS ever went to the Justice Department to give you a heads-up, knowing you were conducting the investigation that some evidence may have been destroyed?,” Republican Rep. Ron DeSantis ventured.
“Not before the 13th of June,” Cole replied.
Cole confirmed at the hearing that DOJ is now “looking into” the IRS commissioner’s delayed response in the IRS emails case.
President Obama previously said that he heard about the Department of Veterans Affairs deadly wait list scandal on the news. He also originally said that he heard about the IRS targeting scandal on the news “along with most of you.”

Can you imagine the uproar from liberals, if anyone in the Bush administration had said, that they learned of problems in the administration from watching the news???
We would have heard lots of talk about how Bush was disengaged, how can he not know what is happening in his own White House, etc.
But because this happens with Obama, the media are very forgiving.
It should be obvious to everyone at this point that this administration realizes that the GOP will NEVER do anything about any of these constantly emerging scandals, and they are now intentionally mocking and laughing at the GOP as a point of inside humor.
I can just see them laughing out load and high-fiving behind closed doors after every stone wall, outrageously contemptuous, bull shit laden hearing.
Any 10 year old knows better than the lost E-mail nonsense, as your email is not stored locally, its on a multi raid server with tape back-up.

President Obama and his minions in the Administration are just grinning and flipping double birds at the House.
Eric Holder will never prosecute anyone who can hurt the president.
Harry Reid will stop any negative legislation in the Senate.
We are stuck with Obama until 2016.

Cole was just one more piece of slime dodging and obfuscating to stonewall for the administration during the hearing today - he couldn’t give even the slightest bit of information about any investigation into the IRS requested by any Republican because the case was still open, but when a ‘rat asked if Lois Lerner’s meeting with the DOJ to talk about investigating taxpayers was legit, he was perfectly happy to pronounce it all above -board - it should be renamed the Department of Nojustice....
What really amazes me is how this “administration” managed to recruit so many sociopaths.
I’m convinced the entire U.S. government is corrupt from top to bottom.
Prove me otherwise.
