For years the political left at the UN has gotten its way on issues related to the family, but not recently, and they are upset.
The issue is over language. The left does not like the use of the singular family, believing it is patriarchal and does not recognize same-sex couples. In its place and for many years UN member states have used a compromise, various forms of the family. However, this phrase has been rejected twice in the past few months, most recently two weeks ago in Geneva.
A coalition of states led by the Russian Federation called for a panel discussion on the family and human rights in conjunction with the 20th anniversary of the International Year of the Family being celebrated this year.
Calls went out all over the world that a catastrophe was about to happen. A group called International Service for Human Rights sent out a blast saying, This approach risks subverting the rights of individuals, including women and children, to the rights of the family. They wrote the sponsors of the resolution have deliberately chosen to exclude previously-agreed UN language that various forms of the family exist.

Along with cutting down the size of US government the next thing that needs to go is the UN. It has turned into (and probably always was) a bunch of America haters. (Oh, I’m sure they hat Israel, Britton and all the colonial powers along with each other, too. But we fund it. How stupid is that?)
It turns out that reality is patriarchal.
The prayer doesn’t go, Whoever It May Concern that art in heaven.
This does not force stiff, inflexible rules on humanity for every single solitary activity. For some things, it is a matter of indifference whether carried out by men or women. But it has a lot to say about the arrangement which will work out best on average.
Probably because they were all born in broken, drugged-up homes. If they couldn’t have a functioning family, then nobody can.
Social workers often see patterns of abuse continuing generation after generation. Some of us have overtly chosen to diverge from that path, like my siblings and I have done. Others twist that type of experience and force their own narrow vision of “curing the world” down everyone else’s throats.
Britton? Really?
I can see how they would prefer ‘clan’ and ‘tribe’ over the family.
Clans and Tribes have just the right amount of inbreeding, child-marriage, bestiality, polygamy, forcibly single homosexual men and all the diseases that go along with it. This style of life is just the thing for promoting women’s and childrens’ rights.
It also preserves a permanent male hierarchy based on groupthink. Just the thing to import into the US. It is already here in the inner cities.
I also come from a broken home. I agree that It’s all about making the right choices in order to break the cycle of abuse/brokenness. I wasn’t slamming people from broken homes. You can’t help that, and I’m pretty sure no one would choose that type of home life. But I don’t think any of these people who detest normal family situations grew up in a good family. Their actions reek of a sort of jealousy and vengeance that is rather frightening.
I didn’t take your comments negatively. I was commenting that some people chose to make lemonade out of lemons and others choose to whine about the sourness - or worse, try to make a profit on sourness.
