WESLACO - BCFS Health and Human Services on Wednesday withdrew a proposal to turn a Weslaco hotel into a facility for young illegal immigrants.
A media release from the group of non-profit agencies cited "negative backlash caused by information misreported to the public" as the reason for walking away from the project.
BCFS last week submitted a request for a conditional use permit to relocate its facility from Harlingen to Weslaco. The agency had agreed to use $3.8 million in non-government funds to buy the Palm Aire Hotel and Suites on FM 1015.
Health and Human Services was so rich.
BCFS sought to turn the hotel into a 600-bed facility, but the project didn't reached the point of submitting the proposal to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, according to the media release.

Baptist Child and Family Services, I think...or something like that.
People jumping all over this idea of putting illegals up in a resort hotel has been all over my Facebook and Twitter ever since word leaked out.
People are rightfully angry and I do not believe that this was “negative backlash caused by information misreported to the public”. I think people are fed up with this garbage and just won’t continue to lie down and take it.
If information was misreported to the public, then why don’t they give us the true story??? Why don’t they tell us how wonderful this would have been, except for all of the misreporting that was done????
So they wanted to spend $3.8 million on the facility and charge the taxpayers $50 million to keep the illegals?
Geezzzzzzzzz........
Isn't it illegal for a Christian group to receive govt. funding?
You know, that separation of church and state thing..............

PING!
On another thread the salaries of the top folks at BCFS were listed, it’s a charity scam like United Way etc...
OOPS, see #7!
I saw that update on the original thread. Thanks for the good news ping! I just wonder what location they’ll come up with next.
Like another poster mentioned...why don’t they use their resources to get their butts down to Central America and set up camps down there? (We know the answer to that one.)
Good grief!! Excellent info on this BCFS scam group!! Good job, research99!
Does anyone have any idea where Weslaco is?
Why can’t they tell us?
Weslaco, TX is between McAllen and Brownsville, TX.
So basically Democrats are granting ungodly sums of our money to a few idiots who act as a cutout for smuggling illegal invaders. Typical Democrat system.
Did they instead decide to turn the Alamo into the newest illegal alien resort?
Nice work on the research. Looks like a bunch of Chamber of Commerce, crony capitalist fat cats driving that gravy train under the safety umbrella of a religious organization. No surprise, really.
Not just that, they also use their huge federal grants to hire a bunch of part-timers throuhg staffing firm (whose own employees call out them out for bullcrap workplace policies) to clean up after the migrant children (while the executives all profit in a big way).
