The former Clinton home is now a well-appointed museum. The old two-lane road in front grew into a bustling artery leading to a Wal-Mart. Across the street sits a taco truck, whose owner, immigrant Elvia Bello, sells her famous tamales to the small but growing Latino population in the once-segregated community.
But perhaps the biggest change of all in a state that once had reliably elected Democrats is the sandwich-board sign on a corner with hand-painted letters announcing: "Tea Party Meeting 4th Thursday 7 p.m."
The Arkansas target is Sen. Mark Pryor thoroughly embraced by his state six years ago that he glided to a second term unopposed by the GOP, winning 80% of the vote. Since then, Republicans have claimed the statehouse, the House delegation and the second Senate seat.
Pryor is struggling to fend off tea party freshman Rep. Tom Cotton a generation younger than Pryor, appeals to the rightward shift with a military background, conservative views on social issues and an opposition to most new spending even spurning a farm bill that has provided essential government assistance to rural communities in Arkansas.
In 2008 Obama failed to carry the state, losing by a larger margin than John F. Kerry, the 2004 Democratic nominee. Then Republicans took off. In 2010, voters ousted Democratic Sen. Blanche Lincoln by a whopping margin after opponents attacked her support for the president's Affordable Care Act. Two years later, voters elected only Republicans in the four-member House delegation. And for the first time since Reconstruction, the statehouse flipped from Democratic control to a GOP majority.
"If Republicans win in Arkansas in 2014, which I believe we will, it will cripple the Democratic Party here for more than a generation," said David Ray, campaign spokesman for Cotton.

Agree. Cotton needs to work on his ads. The ones I have seen have been mild, low key, lacking in luster or content.
I did see one recently, however, that provided more information on Pryor supporting Obama.

Pryor is running a new ‘faith’ ad — with a BIG open Bible.
Some of his previous ads had a lot of ‘implications’ and partial facts against Cotton.
‘Cotton got money from big business interests.’ [Was it salary or contribution? Ad did not say. How much big business money has Pryor received?]
‘Cotton went to Haaaaaaaaaaavard.’ [Condescending emphasis on Harvard.’ Sounds like Pryor might be a tad jealous.]

Some ads are from PACs rather than the candidates.
LA Times Decoder Ring: “Hollywood, send LOTS of $$$ to Arkansas now. We are in trouble”
Bill really grew up in Hot Springs. Hope helped with the political message, especially since Hot Springs had a certain unsavory reputation in his era.

Candidate Cotton needs to ask Sen Pryor when Obama is coming by to campaign for his lock-stepping loyalist.

STROLL DOWN MEMORY LANE As far back as 2008, at the presidential debate in Nashville, Democrat candidate Obama advanced his signature healthcare plan---ultimately enacted, by an historic straight Democrat party-line vote, into the "Affordable Care Act"
QUOTING 2008 OBAMA: "No. 1, let me just repeat, if youve got a health care plan that you like, you can keep it. All Im going to do is help you to lower the premiums on it. Youll still have choice of doctor. Repeated over and over ---- with the promise that every American family would be saving $2500.00 on healthcare costs.
Significantly, Obamba NEVER corrected lock-stepping Democrats, all reading from the same Democrat talking points, all of them repeating the same Democrat promises---over and over again.
LOCK-STEPPING PARTY LOYALTY NOT SEEN SINCE 1930-40's ERA EUROPE Obama And The Dems marched in lockstep. The persistent Dumbocrat drumbeat ---- in obeisance to Obama ---- kept ringing reassuringly in our ears: "If you like your plan, you can keep your plan."

Mark Pryor looks for Obamacare enrollees who've paid for
insurance, who are actually insured, for millenials duped into
paying for other people's h/care and for the "underserved"....
who had no insurance before ACA took effect.
"I can't find anybody."
Sen Mark Pryor shakes Obama's hand as lock-stepping Democrats look on.
Amazing...even little Stevie Wonder is looking on in awe.
Dang - I learn stuff every day.....tagline is herewith “adjusted”....
