OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A woman said Monday that she was expelled from a private, Christian college in suburban Oklahoma City because she married her same-sex partner.
Christian Minard, 22, said she received a letter last week from Southwestern Christian University notifying her of the expulsion after returning from her honeymoon in Las Vegas. Minard said she did not know how the university learned of her March 17 marriage in Albuquerque, New Mexico, though she did say she posted her marriage license on Facebook.
"I'm not friends with anyone from my university. And there have been pictures of us because we've been in relationship for 3½ years, and no one ever said word," Minard said.
University Academic Vice President and Provost Connie Sjoberg said Minard had been a student at the school in the Oklahoma City suburb of Bethany but no longer was. She said federal privacy laws kept her from providing details.
"We are limited in what we can discuss," Sjoberg said. "We would definitely love to address that (reason for expulsion), but we need permission from the individual to speak in depth."

Perhaps she just learned that actions have consequences.
1) If this is your lifestyle, why did you attend a private Christian school? We are seeing more of this. Like non-Catholics outraged their Catholic university won’t pay for birth control.
2) If you have no contract with the private school stating otherwise, they can expel you for any reason they wish (unless you can prove some kind of fraud). This is the whole ‘private’ thing.
3) Expelling a student for a same sex marriage by digging into her life... not okay. Firing a CEO for supporting traditional marriage by digging into his life... totally okay. Double standard?
The school administrators must wear blindfolds if it took a facebook posting for them to figure out her preferences.
Obviously the college staff is following her around since facebook posts are top-secret. There are security protocols ensuring that no one ever sees them.
The Constitution guarantees freedom of association. Its a basic liberty. If the Government tries to force this woman’s presence and affiliation with this private religious inspired college against the will of that community, then Freedom of Association and Freedom of Religion are meaningless. Can the government force a Catholic seminary to accept a sworn jihadist?
She married a rump ranger?
I thought they didn't like girls.
Another article says students sign a “lifestyle covenant”.. So this person signed it and knows she violated it..
My response to her is “So?” “Private Christian College.” Sorry dear the Butthurt Department is closed.
They probably extended the charitable assumption that she and her “friend” were simply friends. Two women can live together without being in a romantic/sexual relationship. But once she made clear that she was going against the school’s belief action had to be taken.
Why choose this private school if you don't hold it's values? She now wants to transfer to a state school, probably saving herself money.
I'm always suspicious of those that put themselves in situations where they know the rules, agree to them or pretend to with a signature, and then run to make a huge deal out of it when caught. Maybe she needs to sue to pay back her student loans. :/
Duuuh. She knew that was going to happen but wanted the attention.
They know that they violate a Christian university’s rules, they do this so that they can cry to the media about religious intolerance and to degrade Biblical Christianity in the name of the world. It’s Satan fighting against God and His truth, plain and simple..
Homosexuals are doing this deliberately. They plan on using the force of government to destroy as many Christian businesses as they can, and then to attack churches that hold to the truth. It’s only a matter of time before pastors will be prosecuted for saying the homosexuality is a sin.
This brings up an interesting topic.
Yearly tuition costs at Southwestern Christian? $13,275.
If she had gone to University of Texas? They charge by the field of study. So, if you were going for a communications degree....the full-year of tuition would be $4,832. For business? $5,369. For nursing, $5,181.
So she was spending roughly 2.5 times her cash for a degree, that she could have gotten for less cost. Who paid the $13,275 a year for her? I’m guessing her parents covered most of this. Why attend a private-christian university? I’m not sure there’s any educational benefit to the setting....other than less alcohol consumption (one would assume).
As for transferring credit? There’s one interesting aspect. If she was three years into the program, there might be some limits. Most major universities will require that you take a minimum of one full-year of classes and all related within your field of study. I’m guessing in this case....she might have a minimum of five classes that she’ll have to re-take in some fashion, and it’ll add at least one year....maybe even eighteen months....onto her schedule.
As for stupidity in assuming that the university wouldn’t ever hear about her marriage? The minute you do something in life like marriage and you try to hide it for some reason....you are dealing with disaster and chaos. I can’t imagine someone being that stupid. Any bets that she’s simply studying for a liberal arts degree?
Homomarxist activist looking for a big payday.
Pray America wakes up
And... what’s the problem with the college booting her?
I went to her facebook page. Her PROFILE picture is her and her girlfriend. I didn’t need to be friends with her to find that out.
And her likes pretty much identify her gender preferences.
So she should not be surprised.
I jumped in a swimming pool and ruined a perfectly good tuxedo. Someone has to pay! /sarcasm ;)
“She married a rump ranger?”
Probably should be referred to as a “rug ranger” ;)
