The article also states that 27% of the population who are not Republicans but are instead Independents and Democrats favor the impeachment of the President of the United States.
Where did the article specifically state that? Did you get this from another source? Your numbers seem pretty accurate, although I think that the "undecided" camp number is probably too high.
This is The Hill, so the numbers it posted are obviously skewed for the liberals. However, what I'm not sure about is what course the liberal media likes to take in reporting numbers. Does it overestimate Obama's approval numbers in order to defend and deify the Democrats, or does it underreport in an attempt to scare Democrats into turning out and try to make Republicans feel complacent? I'd say that it does a mixture of the two strategies, although I'm not entirely sure what their pattern is based on.

The original data for the poll is given here

I do stand corrected, the number there of all non Republicans in favor of impeachment is listed there as 26% not the 27% I found from another source.

Perhaps there was some rounding error involved.

It looks like the breakdown is

22 % of population identifies as Republican and is in favor of impeachment

26% of the population which identifies as Democrat or Independent is in favor of impeachment

21% of the population Republican, Democrat or Independent is undecided on whether the President should be impeached Very interesting numbers

Interestingly enough for comparison, during the Clinton impeachment in the 90’s the percentage of Americans who were in favor of impeaching Bill Clinton never went over 30% and hovered at around 27% .

The majority of Americans were in favor of Censure

With George Bush there was a hard core of Democrats in favor of his impeachment that totaled about 30% . The total number of Americans that supported him and were not in favor of impeachment was on the order of 60%

So in the case of Bill Clinton, only a very small percentage of Americans wanted to see Clinton impeached and the majority wanted to see him sanctioned or censured.

With George Bush, a huge majority of Americans may not approved of his job performance but were totally opposed to impeachment. In that light, Obama's numbers on impeachment are very ominous for him.
