News flash: most atheists, like myself, don’t go around trying to talk other people out of their faith, or belittling them for it. We may get a little upset when some pious person insists on trying to talk us out of our lack of faith, though.
Speaking of arrogance and condescension, though, there’s more than a whiff of it in your (and others’) post.
It has been my experience that atheists generally believe in some kind of Intelligent Creator of the Universe. They just don’t believe in the ‘god’ described in various religious texts, and the associated religious practices. Especially since each religion declares their ‘god’ the only true one, and their ‘practices’ the only ‘way’.
