Immediately after he ousted the York County Republican Committee's incumbent chairman Saturday, Alex Shorb vowed to ensure that Tea Party supporters are heard in the party's political deliberations.
Yet Shorb, a financial services firm owner from York, said he did not regard his election as chairman as some sort of conservative coup.
"I don't see it as a tea party takeover at all," he said. "I'm not a tea party member."
Shorb's election and the tandem victory of his running mate, Lower Windsor Township Committeewoman Allison Blew, who is the party's new vice chairwoman, followed a push by conservative opponents of the administration of now ex-Chairman Robert Wilson.
Foes of Wilson's leadership had run write-in campaigns in the primary election to fill many of the 45 vacant committee seats with their own backers for the ouster push. His opponents had expressed the opinion that Wilson was too liberal.

Team Romney AT LAST take a fall, somewhere.
Mitt Romney and his partner Soros,
will cause the death of America,
if they have has not done so, already.
The new guys in power are the GOPc
From the comments at the end of the article the Democrats in the York area are as stone cold nuts as they are everywhere else.
It’s Gleason that needs to be purged.
GOPc? Not bad. Couple questions. A: did you make that up? and B: who exactly do you define as GOPc?
GOPc...... yes, I created the term.
The GOPc are the large number of Americans who are at the root conservatives and who are disgusted with the GOPe. The GOPc can be seen in red in what is known as fly over country.
The GOPc is a coalition of conservative Republicans that includes the ad hoc but perhaps more radical wing called the Tea Party. Truth be known, the difference between the GOPc and the Tea Party might be impossible to define.
The GOPc is in my view, the salvation of America. It includes many broad minded folks that don’t go through life looking through a paper towel tube. They have a wider vision. They are pragmatic, meaning they support that which works but don’t insist on forcing conservative dogma that is just not going to happen.
The GOPc or, many of them, often are community leaders that work unseen or unnoticed, quietly building their home communities along conservative lines.
Again, definitions are difficult because to define is to confine, to create borders. It isbest to just say GOPc and allow folks to say “I’m one”
In the old days John Thompson would have kept the conservatives at bay by using his power to fill the vacant seats with cronies.
The people that ran the write in candidates made a smart move to circumvent Wilson’s ability to appoint vacant seats.
Heck, the party even offered me a committee seat once, when I was more malleable to their purposes.
We’ll watch and see how this all plays out in the elections ahead and see if I can help in some way.
Of course, if these new leaders continue to support folks like Stan Saylor (PA House Majority Whip) and Tom Corbett, that’s a non-starter with me.
Will they call for repeal of Saylor and Corbett’s 28 cent a gallon gas tax hike?????
This is how we take back the GOP from the establishment.....not by going third party!
The new guys in power are the GOPc
Good one. Should be gop-C
Tea Party is not dead, even if the MSM wishes it was true. Thad’s tactics could make Democrats proud, but McDaniels should be the Republican candidate.
Great, Now, maybe they will get out of the pocket of the old money, old boy network, and pay some attention to the city.
Excellent .that’s what I thought you meant by GOPc - just wanted to make sure.
GOPc-—simply brilliant!!!
