Last week, conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt interviewed Zach Carter...The Huffington Posts senior political economy reporter. The interviews purpose was to discuss Carters negative response to Hewitts previous interview of former Vice President Dick Cheney. The interview was lively and interesting but it did not go well for Carter, who was forced to admit his ignorance of the historical context of the situation in Iraq....Carter said he hadnt read...Bernard Lewis Crisis of Islam, Robin Wrights Dreams and Shadows, or Thomas P. M. Barnetts The Pentagons New Map. He said he hadnt read Dexter Filkins The Forever War but that hed read a lot of the stuff that hes written for The New Yorker. Filkins joined The New Yorker in 2011. He said he does not read politicians memoirs, including Cheneys or George W. Bushs. That he was unaware that Bill Clinton had bombed Iraq in 1998 or that Gadhafi had reportedly disarmed in 2003. He admitted he doesnt know who A. Q. Khan, the father of the Pakistan bomb and godfather of Iranian and North Korean nuclear programs, is.
Its such a display of ignorance that it seems almost unfair. But looked at another way, its simply a good interview where Hewitt seeks to establish Carters background and breadth of knowledge in order to help listeners know on what basis he critiqued Cheney.
My favorite line was when Carter was asked if hed heard of George Weigel and he replied, Ive heard of Dave Weigel.
I dont mean to pick on Carter, who was a good sport. If anything, I give him credit for sticking through the entire interview. But it speaks to a larger problem we face with our media, which is that they frequently are not well read and, more importantly, they do not realize it.

Did my best with an excerpt of the start, but it only gets better as you go along.
This is one article that truly deserves the READ THE WHOLE THING instruction.
What?
Didju SAY something ?
Excellent article. Thanks for posting.
The real problem is total media bias. The MSM see themselves as the propaganda arm of the democRAT party. Asking them to be informed is a nonsequitur to them. That’s like asking a Madison Avenue ad guy to know the chemical composition of soap. He doesn’t know and doesn’t care. That’s not his job. His job is to move product by any means necessary.
Are we required to excerpt from The Federalist?
Media’s WILLFUL Ignorance Is Becoming A Serious Problem
There. Fixed it.
Oh, I don’t know, I pretty much always excerpt. Even if someone has posted the whole text I generally go to the link to read it, it’s just easier to read that way.
Pssst... here's another "secret" - THEY ARE ALSO ACTIVE AND PARICIPATING PURVEYORS! [Place Sam Kinison scream here]
No dumb democrat has EVER read about the history of Islam. To them it all started with, global warming, US policies, and poverty. Completely ignoring that Islam was founded in a violent land, by violent people, that used violence to spread. They haven’t changed in 1400 years. Even before Islam the middle east was a mess.
But blaming Bush always makes for a better headline.
“Thats like asking a Madison Avenue ad guy to know the chemical composition of soap. He doesnt know and doesnt care. Thats not his job. His job is to move product by any means necessary.”
Excellent point and well stated.

In 2008 the MSM transitioned from ardent liberals to functional regime operatives.

They practice “Censorship By Omission” for Obama.
The ignorance of reporters and writers in the MSM has been a problem since the 1980’s. They have no education beyond how to “write good” and it doesn’t seem to be too hard to do. A lot of ignorami write daily and get paid for it.
The internet has a lot of experts and it is a pleasure to read them as they hold forth on a truly complex problem.
The wonderful thing about ignorance is that it can’t be reasoned with. It’s often intentional. If you don’t know something, you can’t be held responsible for the consequences of possessing that knowledge.
READ THE WHOLE THING bttt!
