CHICAGO (CBS) – Joined by several families facing deportation, U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.) on Tuesday demanded President Barack Obama take “immediate” action that would prevent those families and others from being torn apart.
WBBM Newsradio’s Dave Berner reports families stepped to the microphone with tears in their eyes as they Agustin Corona, who is facing deportation, said he has children who were born in the U.S., and he’s had a job since the mid-90s.
“I would like to stay here. This is Chicago. I’m part of Chicago,” he said.
Gutierrez said Obama can use his executive powers to halt deportations, and he wants the president to step up.
“There are broad, wide, expansive measures that the President of the United States can take to stop the deportations,” he said. “Issue the executive orders immediately. There are too many families that have no time to wait.”
The congressman said the president knows what it’s like to have his citizenship questioned, and he knows it’s time to act.
“Mr. President, there are over 4.5 million American citizen children who everyday wake up to the possible nightmare of losing their mom and their dad. That has to come to an end,” he said.
Gutierrez said, since the Republican-controlled House for more than a year has been blocking a bipartisan immigration reform plan approved by the Senate, the president should act to ease the pain of millions facing deportation. “Be as broad and wide and as expensive and generous as the Republicans are mean-spirited,” Gutierrez said.
It is too bad he doesn’t represent American citizens
Those foreign families will not be torn apart, they can all go home together.
And they are holding out hope that Obama is “on their side”.
This hurts the country but it really hurts the Democrats.
I like it.
Yep, 322 million people here and about 7 billion outside the U. S., this influx of 300 thousand will certainly put and end to those who want to come here.

This is most assuredly another shady act of collusion and conspiracy perpetrated by the Congressional Hispanic Caucus to increase their political clout, and to jet-stream US foreign aid to their Third World masters. US tax dollars are then laundered, then funnelled back as campaign donations to amnesty-worshipping Obama and Dems campaign coffers.
The close-mouthed Congressional Hispanic Caucus has been much too secretive about its role in financing, and, using Congressional earmarks to finance the blood-thirsty America-hating La Raza.
Dummycrats are signing 'em up like crazy---registering parasites, welfare breeders, terrorists, mass murderers, drug lords, drug dealers, mental defectives, diseased hordes....all strolling into the US using falsified documents, and stolen SS nos. Is he a member of La Raza, or other America-hating organizations planning armed incursions, that are set to receive millions in federal tax dollars via the amnesty bill slush fund? Membership would be grounds for disqualification....or even legal action

Gutierrez's aye vote for amnesty needs to be summarily disqualified. As an elected official, Gutierrez has an inherent conflict of interest in the amnesty provision which protects elected latinos from wrongdoing.
A PROTECTION RACKET EMBEDDED IN US LAW the Senate amnesty bill actually protects corrupt Latino Public Officials from US laws and from prosecution.......only latino pols.
Vote-crazed Dems allow amnesty to absolve elected/appointed latinos holding US public office from prosecution for wrongdoing---for crimes like government fraud, graft, bribery, selling votes for cash....(the usual politician crimes).
