President Obama visiting a Maryland Costco store in January.
NEW YORK The retail giant Costco Wholesale has issued an order to remove all copies of Dinesh DSouzas bestselling book, America: Imagine the World Without Her, from the shelves of its stores nationwide, WND has confirmed.
The book, in this midterm election year, is a strong rebuttal of the progressive ideology behind President Obamas policies, which have been supported by Costco co-founder and director Jim Sinegal, a major Democrat donor and a speaker at the 2012 Democratic National Convention that nominated the president.
Costco has sold more than 3,600 copies of America nationwide, with about 700 copies sold last week as DSouzas film by the same name opened at more than 1,000 movie theaters nationwide.
But Costcos book department issued the pull-order, requiring all Costco stores nationwide to remove the book, confirmed Scott Losse, an inventory control specialist in the book department
The Washington Examiner reported June 20 that the book sold 4,915 in the first week and 5,592 in the second week but mysteriously was kept off the New York Times bestseller list, where it would have ranked No. 8 and then No. 11 on the June 29 list.
The book will be on the Times July 13 list, however, at No. 17.

In total, Costco has given $100,000 to Obama and another $100,000 to Priorities USA, the pro-Obama super PAC.

I would ask them if pulling a top seller is a good business decision?
I would ask them if pulling a popular book just as the moviee tie-in is causing sales to explode is a good business decision?
I would ask them if pulling a book just as it cracks the NYT best sellers top 20 is a good business decision?
I would ask them if so obviously censoring a political view is a good public relations decision?
I would ask if they plan the traditional public book burning of the copies they have pulled from their shelves, of if it will be a private ceremony, given the poor optics?
Then I would ask if whoever made or approved the decision to remove a winning product from their inventory decision is actually smart enough to be their public face?
Then I would let them know that I'm going to start comparison shopping at Sam's Club...
I have never been in a Costco...Never will.
Maybe they will complete the cycle of censorship and have a massive book burning.
Email Costco...Tell them what you think:

Did the “free” tour once. Didn’t lose anything in there and never saw a reason to go back.
On news of this, I don’t think I ever will, either. We have a choice where we spend our money. It doesn’t have to be to the benefit of rabid liberal maniacs intent on providing the means to destroy this country.
I’m not a member and never will be.
Well, my renewal is up in a few months but Sam’s...welcome to my thousands of dollars I SPENT each year at Costco.
This action is just one more piece of evidence that even the adherents of this demonstrably failed ideology don’t believe it can stand up to a book.
Even liberals know that their beliefs are underpinned by lies, or else they wouldn’t fear....a book.
They fear the truth, as they must.
Liberalism is being exposed by Obama as the pipedream it has always been.
I see this as an acknowledgement that they know they’re wrong.
Costco’s founder loves Obama. I had to endure a nauseating half hour of my Econ teacher extolling the virtues of Costco’s founder. The accompanying video was even worse. It featured Biden at the opening of a Costco stuffing his face.
Well duh. With your screen name, I would think you're more a Sam's Club kinda guy...
Government-inspired censorship. The USA at this time is no better than the soviet union was.
Ive seen stacks of liberal books from Gore, Clinton , Obama in my store many times. I’m emailing them and will tear up my card.
Of course. Where do you think food stamps get spent?
How are they able to pay so much starting out? I thought they were union but there has to be a reason they are able to pull it off.
I know Aldi pays well starting out (for retail) but there is an obvious reason: less people working harder.
Anybody notice the 2nd name on the BoD list?
Bummer...
Send them snail mail with your card and a demand for refund on the unused portion.
The founder, (I didn’t care enough to remember his name or even look it up) only makes around $300,000-$600,000 a year. IIRC, Costco workers get full benefits and an average of $22/hour. The guy even supposedly answers the phone personally when you contact Costco’s headquarters.
Excuse me, “Co-founder”.
My screen-name came first, back in 2001, but in fact I did join SC a few years ago because the Wal-Mart/SC is so near where I live. There’s also a BJ’s in my area but the SC is closer. Costco was too far away to consider but now after this I would never consider it on any account, even if they opened one next door. Until this story broke I didn’t realize Costco is an Obama supporter.
